Wow, how utterly barbaric. What the fuck kind of family are we dealing with here?
Obviously, the father sucks at parenting and probably has beaten the kid in the past. Seems like that worked out real well.

Cause it isn't illegal to spank your kids? And never should be.

Yeah, a guy who thinks that hitting a sixteen-year-old with a belt is going to solve any problem has probably never been a prize winner.![]()
But hitting your kid with a belt? How could that possibly be okay? How could anyone think that it is healthy?
To Brent: Because it says it in a book?
To Brent: Because it says it in a book? A book that also says slavery is okay and that women who are having their period should be ousted from the community?
To Brent: Because it says it in a book?
Yes, a book I consider the word of God, the truth to live by, and that I put faith in.

You can believe what you like, but if you believe than an "accidental injury" resulting from corporal punishment can't land you in jail your belief is contrary to fact.

Of course it doesn't always work that way.
If you're going to quote from the Bible then don't forget Psalm 137:9 or Leviticus 26:29.^ this is why I think it is healthy
Prov 13:24: "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes (diligently)."
Prov 19:18: "Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying."
Prov 22:15: "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him."
Prov 23:13: "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die."
Prov 23:14: "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell (Shoel)."
Prov 29:15: "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame."
Hebrews 12:6-7: "...the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son. Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?"
The only morals I've ever found worthwhile from the Bible all happen to be quotes by Jesus. Funny that.
We all get our morals from somewhere, that is where I get mine.
