1/350 TOS E?

Frankly, if the model doesn't end up looking like this...

... when assembled, then it defeats the whole purpose of having a model that size!

Personally, I hope the kit isn't quite that fuzzy.

is this^ the Master replicas ENT

^^ Nope. Those are screen captures of the original 33in. filming miniature made when "The Cage" was being produced. In these shots they used the model in the episode "Requiem For Methuselah" when Flint was demonstrating his technological abilities. You can see the distinctive saucer shape here which is quite different from the 11ft. filming E. And you can also see that by this point the model's hangar doors had been misplaced or lost somewhere.

Some people just don't appreciate the Cybill Shepherd/Maddie Hayes style of photography. :(

No, that is the real original (by about a month) model of the Enterprise... the 33" model as seen in "Requiem for Methuselah".

For me all other display models of the Enterprise have been measured by how this one looked in that episode. So having a model more like the 11 foot model is actually moving away from how that model looked in that episode.

Edit: Yeah... what Warped9 just said.

Yeah I could see that now:)

Hi, havnt been in here for a while, im a modeller of physical and CG stuff. Ameteur though, but i do a lot of it.

Im working on the Polar Lights Refit, have been for the past couple of years. Only able to do one day a week as of work etc.

I also heard via hobby talk that a 1:350 scale Classic 1701 was in the works, and i though the greatest news EVER. A match in detail and scale wouldve been a fantastic companion for the E-Refit kit.

anyway, back to my point...

I don't know about a TOS Enterprsie, but I know theres a 1:350 TMP version & a new 1:1400 1701-E versions been released.

Heres the link as you may wanna check them out

I take it this is a re-issue of the Polar Lights kit from a few years back as stated by another poster. However, excuse my dumbness here, but as it now has added hull aztec detail, does this mean that (According to the illustration) the hanger deck is pre-painted and assembled?

No reason, i just wondered.

Just a brief on my WIP.

Now with my kit, i started my kit with the rec-deck. It was the simplest part to start on as i gathered equipment/other stuff for the build.

I completely stripped the basic looking base that was given and started again in the same scale, using foliage and scale gravel from a model railway shop. found some scaled people etc etc, created a small lake-cum-pond and a few benches, a small raised area for detail and ornate scale lamps.

Given that we never saw it onscreen, i have taken poetic lisence. The artificial sky would darkent and the lamps will go on when the ship hits night time hours, much like the rest of the ship. Just a little detail i thought would be cool if it were seen onscreen.

Im at the moment working on the hanger deck whenever i get time. its fun, but needs patience. Ive accurized it with photo-etch and resin parts. i have only painted a few parts, but i have all the lighting holes drilled and all the additional parts painted and decaled.

I havnt tackled the aztec yet, but i have accurized some surface details such as bridge and sensor dome and nacelles.

It's the same kit, nothing pre-painted or anything, just with some minor tweaks. The clear rods from the stand are gone, replaced with a single metal rod that goes into the bottom of the secondary hull. The kit now includes aztec decals if you don't have the skill, time or patience for painting. There's also supposed to be a second stand included to display the shuttle hanger outside the kit as a separate piece instead of building it into the ship.

Thanks for that. I did assume that but i had to ask anyway.

Speaking of the stand, ive had a friend make me one out of wood and metal at his yard, need it A; to support its weight and B; for the lighting wires.

thats cool though, having an option for the hanger in or out, then again, i suppose you can choose that anyway, just make your own stand for it.

That again was a gripe i had with the kit. Once all the detail has been completed, at least 25% is not visible once placed inside the drive section. I dont mind it as such as its an acheivment and, once its together, i know what went into that part of the kit. Although, ive seen a few completed kits at conventions and its surprising what you can see when you look hard enough and get the right angles.

Does anybody know if anyone has kit-bashed it to make a cutaway version with or without lighting? That will seem to be the only option for that type of in-or-out choice.
