I read somewhere in one of these threads that there was announcement of a forthcoming 1/350 TOS E release.

Is it true and does anyone have anymore information? If true this is the one kit I've been waiting my whole life for.

I don't know about a TOS Enterprsie, but I know theres a 1:350 TMP version & a new 1:1400 1701-E versions been released.

Heres the link as you may wanna check them out

It isn't in the release notes for this year, but hope springs eternal. This year's big-scale release is a 1/1000 scale Akira-class. This should bring it in at a tad over 17", which is pretty good when you consider that an Enterprise D or E would be a tad over two feet, if they do any other Next Gen kits in the same scale (Tom Lowe, the owner of Round 2 is pretty big on the Star Trek license. It's one of the first ones he went after when he started Round 2.).

Over on Hobbytalk they say that RC2 has had an announcement for a 1/350 scale TOS E for 2010.

Personaly, if we hear anymore BIG news from the world of STAR TREK modeling I hope it's a confirmation of a 1/1000 scale REFIT U.S.S.ENTERPRISE & a U.S.S. RELIANT! :D

And this has been confirmed with RC2 too. Like you, this is the kit I've been waiting a very long time for. Rumor has it that Thomas Sasser is doing the prototype for the molds. Given his attention to detail, and his access to Paramount source material, it should be pretty damn close to perfect (unless some compromises have to be made overseas for production purposes).

I cannot wait!

Oh! & MR.Tom Lowe, if your reading these boards I would also like 1/1000 Scale models of the following PLEASE! U.S.S. VOYAGER, U.S.S. DEFIANT, U.S.S. EQUANOX ( with add on parts to make the Rhode Island variant) Thank You.

Has anyone heard if it's going to have a detailed hangar deck like the refit has?

That would be awesome. But if not, simple enough to scratch build!

If it is even penciled in for 2010, then whatever it will have is still in the planning stages right now.

That being said, logically there's no reason it shouldn't have a shuttlebay and most likely the Bridge (facing FORWARD  ). Beyond that, it depends if they want to get into removable panels and such which, while interesting for display, become problematic from a modeling perspective.

As soon as the various technical details have been worked out, there'll be an official announcement, but it is being planned.
HOW would you know? :shifty:

Because he read the unofficial announcements from Round 2 at HobbyTalk like many of us.

BTW, it's not RC2 - RC2 is gone, morphed into a kiddie toys company. Tom Lowe's new company is called "Round 2," and he's reissuing model kits from Polar lights, AMT/Ertl and MPC.

Obviously the 1/350 Refit mentioned in Post #2 is the PL kit from a few years ago (with aztec decals added!), and the 1701-E kit is not new, but a reissue of the Ertl kit.

That's going to be one hell of a set of decals. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to load Solvaset into by airbrush... ;)

I have lousey luck with decals. I imagine half the surface of the whole model will end up with silvering.

Great. Now I gotta buy another kit

Frankly, if the model doesn't end up looking like this...

... when assembled, then it defeats the whole purpose of having a model that size!
