‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

I'm really looking forward to seeing Affleck's take. He looks more like my mental image of Bruce Wayne than any other actor who's portrayed the character before.

Affleck definitely has the looks for the role - and he looks great in the Batsuit. He's matured a lot as an actor since Daredevil, so here's hoping.

I even thought he was good in Daredevil. That movie had huge problems, but I never thought Affleck was one of them.

The more I see of him, the more I think he's going to surprise a lot of people in this film. In a good way.

I wonder who is on the other end of that call. Most likely Alfred.

Quick, somebody please pass the brainbleach! I cannot get the image of Clooney out of my head when I look at those pics. :shifty:

There, I said it!

I hope Affleck pulls this off. Daredevil wasn't horrible, but I don't generally go into movies with great expectations. It's different with Batman.

Batman has been my superhero since 1966, just barely nudging George Reeves' Superman out of the spot. For me, Bale's Batman was acceptable, but not the Bat in my head. Keaton pulled it off, and to a much lesser extent, Kilmer and Clooney. There's an "independent film" Batman who personifies it for me, and I'm hoping that Affleck can live up to that.

A friend who has worked with Affleck thinks he'll do fine. Fingers crossed.

^^^^
I am sure Affleck can do Batman well. He is a comic fan and actually knows the character from the source material. That said, in these films, much of the performance is dependent on the director.

Word to the wise: Affleck is not the weak link in this equation; Snyder and Goyer are.

And, I'm afraid, this just-leaked storyboard isn't at all encouraging:

Remember Chris Terrio who with with Affleck on Argo is the screenwriter for BvS. Goyer is still attached but I think Terrio is taking the lead, or rewriting Snyder's script.

I'll be sad to have "photoshoppery" confirmed on the visuals I linked to. Won't surprise me, but it will be disappointing.

Chris Terrio has pretty much replaced David Goyer as screenwriter. Even press releases say something to the effect of "Written by Chris Terrio, from a script by David Goyer". I think the moment Ben Affleck came onboard he had a lot of say and probably requested/recommended Terrio come onboard and rewrite the script. I'm actually a lot less concerned about the script now.

As for Zack Snyder, he's actually similar to Goyer in the capacity that he's as good as the material he's given. With Goyer, he can be a sub-par writer when he works alone (see: Man of Steel, The Unborn, Blade: Trinity) but he's actually relatively decent when he's working with a great director (Chris Nolan on Batman Begins; Guillermo del Toro on Blade II). With Snyder, his Dawn of the Dead remake was decent but he was working from a script by Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn. I liked Watchmen - more so the Director's/Ultimate Cut - but he was also working from Alan Moore's material. When Snyder is left to his own devices, we get 300 (which was good, but disregard the pretty visuals and you have a pretty thin story... although Frank Miller's original story might be somewhat to blame) and even worse... Sucker Punch. The less said about that... the better.

I've always thought Snyder was a decent director - he hires good actors, gets good performances out of them, has an eye for nifty visuals and production design - but his storytelling skills leave a lot to be desired. The fact that he's paired up now with a talented writer instills in me some hope that Batman vs. Superman might actually be good. So we'll see. It is possible Ben Affleck might have been the best thing to happen to this movie.

^That article is from June 2014. Variety might've "confirmed" it, but neither will WB or Momoa. Not that it matters - the fact that Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman is the worst kept secret right now. I'm not entirely sure why WB is keeping it secret, unless they intend for it to be a surprise.

From what I've heard, Aquaman will come into play - in what is being described as a cameo appearance - as a result of Superman and the World Engine reeking havoc on the sea, including Atlantis, in Man of Steel. Aquaman is pissed about that, so that's how he comes in. Although, as I heard, it won't be anything more than a cameo. Probably setting up his appearance in his solo movie and/or Justice League.

With all this talk of the various heroes being pissed at each other I'm starting to wonder if the first hour of the Justice League movie is going to be all of the good guys kicking the crap out of each other, Marvel- style. I'd happily hand over my money to see that.
