‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

Jason Momoa is the last person in the world I expected to play Aquaman. Is he going to be a short haired blonde in it?

If there's any truth to that rumor, it almost seems like they're trying to make him more Namor-like. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. It's not like Marvel seems to have any interest in bringing Namor to the big screen.

That occurred to me too.

Does Marvel now own the screen rights to Namor again? IIRC another studio held them for a time.

That's essentially what DC tried to do with him after Zero Hour. I wonder if we will have a version closer to the one handed Aquaman.

I actually think Momoa sounds like a really cool choice. No he doesn't look much like the classic, blonde haired Aquaman, but he does have the commanding presence and that Warrior King From a Mythical Land vibe about him which would be perfect for the character.

And god knows, the character could definitely stand to look a lot more badass.

Maybe the statue is from the end of the movie, and he does something more heroic in this one to earn it.

What's more heroic than saving the planet?

Saving the planet, rescuing the people in your city and finding a way to win the day without resorting to killing your opponent. That's what Superman does (see Grant Morrison's recent Action Comics arc). That's more heroic.

So Silver-Age fanwankery then mixed with Monday morning quarterbacking.

I like Momoa, so I don't mind how different he looks from the tradition character. I really don't see anything about the character that requires him to be the blonde guy from the comics, other than tradition.

I've liked Aquaman as the Arthurian type when they've gone that route, but Momoa's take would definitely be fun if they did it well.

I'd be fine with Momoa as Aquaman, though he doesn't really have a swimmer's physique. I'd really love to see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in the role. And I'd prefer Momoa as Hawkman, or Lobo.

Momoa with blond hair would look much more the part, I think.

You asked "what's more heroic?" I gave you the definitive answer. Sorry if you don't like it.
