What would be the upbeat, happy story where Earth's two greatest heroes beat the living crap out of each other?
Also, if Snyder had followed up MoS with an upbeat movie that glossed over the losses and developments that happened at the end of MoS, people would be pissed about that. The lack of acknowledgement of the massive destruction and loss of life in Metropolis was one of the chief complaints about the prior film, and now it's being addressed, along with mankind's insignificance in a world where literal gods patrol the skies. That's not really upbeat subject matter.
Trailer looks good. I'm guessing if you hated Man of Steel you'll probably hate this and if you loved MoS you'll probably love this one. If you were meh on it you'll probably have the same reaction to this one.
That said, I wonder how the new movie will deal with the fact that Batman had been around for years prior to Man of Steel. I guess there probably just wasn't a moment in that film to acknowledge the presence of other costumed heroes.
Instead of Superman meeting with the military at the end, that time should have been used to show Lois reporting on how the Man of Steel is helping rebuild the city as the people are rebuilding their lives. That would have provided are better segue into the final scene. It would have acknowledge the death and destruction of Metropolis while providing a sense of Superman becoming Superman, and it would have had nice thematic closure as it would have been a balance for Lois' investigation at the beginning of the film. It also would have set the stage for the savior/satan theme addressed in the new trailer.

Anyone feeling sorry for Gal Gadot? Cavill and Affleck dont necessarily need to be 100% muscular all the time to play their characters, even if they are. Suit pretty much add all the missing muscle. But Wonder Woman has her bare legs and arms visible at all the time.
One of the benefits of being in a film about an Alien God who shoots lasers from his eyes is that nobody gets fixated on "realistically what sort of suit would a man need to survive in combat with armed bad guys" because you are instantly going for a different style from the Nolan films where they overthought that sort of thing...
It's awfully nice of Superman to run at Batman at normal speed.
Does Cavill's Superdouche actually have superspeed though? Re-watching Man of Steel awhile back I noticed that Clark never actually uses it - hell, we even see him hitching to places instead of just running wherever he needs to go ala Smallville.

He is shown flying at superspeed in MoS, though. That's my point -- why does he run at Batman instead of flying at him? He could take off and knock Batman out before Bruce could take a single step.
