‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

The early review doesn't seem too surprising. Man of Steel grew on me, so I'll probably like this. I'd prefer a Superman movie with a better director and a tone that actually fit the character, but if Nolan style darkness is what we'll be stuck with for probably the next decade, I suppose I'll take what I can get.

Honestly, as long as Snyder doesn't have Batman shoot someone (I only worry about that because, based on Man of Steel, every hero must do the thing they would never do at least once, because GRIM and EDGY :shifty: ), the movie will probably be decent, at least. I'm excited to see Ben Affleck's Batman, if nothing else.

At least they're being honest about it but I hate the feeling that you're paying money to see a compromised version on the silver screen.

Fascinating stuff, and definitely spoilerific for those who care about such things (I don't).

With all the easter eggs this movie will contain (and more in the extended release), there will be an avalanche of speculation after this movie comes out.

I didn't realise Snyder is also directing Justice League. He must really love DC!
I was rooting for Ben Affleck to helm JL; I think he's a better director than Snyder, and I think would handle the character of Batman and Superman appropriately.

Maybe, but from interviews with Snyder it sounds like most of the stuff that was cut was in the "easter egg" category. As in lots of little things that weren't really crucial to the story but were included just for the fun of it.

And I do appreciate that he felt anything longer than 2 1/2 hours was just too freakin long (at least when it comes to superhero epics). Because I usually tend to agree.

With installments coming out every few years, I appreciate a good meaty story.

Isn't it the theatres that want shorter runs so that they can squeeze in more showings?

I agree. It seems like the right decisions were made and my fear of a blood bath director's cut are lessened somewhat.

I would like the Justice League movie to be a version of the new 52 JL origin story. Even though the execution was handled poorly in the comic, I think it still serves as a great introduction to Darkseid--and part 2 can be something along the lines of Darkseid War.

I'm not positive, but I think the rumor is that Affleck will direct a solo Batman movie. If Batfleck ends up being an interesting Batman, I'm much more exicted for that movie than the JL.

I agree. I wonder if Leto's Joker will be in the Batfleck movie, lets hope DC's version of Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad starring Will Smith will be a success.

It seems right now like the Ben Affleck will be a prequel about the death of Robin.

I wouldn't read that much form that interview. It just says they'll reference it and elaborate on it as part of his backstory in the future, because in BvS the Robin suit appears only as a prop.
Doesn't mean they'll actually adapt "Death in the Family".

I couldn't give less of a damn about the rating tbh. Ratings are something for studios to negotiate over with the ratings board. Most of the memorable story lines with these characters from the comics would probably hit an R rating pretty fast when translated point-for-point into a movie anyway.

How did you feel about the LOTR and Hobbit movies knowing a longer cut was coming for all six of them?

Pretty much the same. Depends if there's extra crap lying around or if the director was forced to trim it. It's been better recently but seemed for a while there were so many unrated versions coming out it seemed better just to wait to rent them on home video.

In case of BvS, I could see the omitted scene being part of Bat's obsession to bring down Superman but I guess we'll see when it all plays out.

That is awesome! I'm a big fan of Simmons, but he honestly never would have occured to me as possibility for Gordon. I wonder if he'll have the mustache?
