‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,’ ‘Lower Decks’ Renewed at Paramount+, Set Summer Premieres

Not necessarily. Given that it is in partnership with Nickelodeon I would say anything around that would announced jointly.
I hope so. I am a bit worried, given that Prodigy needs a very long production time for its animation and everything that goes with it. If no new episodes are ordered now, the people involved may start seeking other jobs once their part of preparing/finishing season 2 is done, as the production "pipeline" starts to dry up from the writer's room down. Hopefully they have started writing already though, a bit like SNW started preparations for S2 before the (semi-)official announcement.

If Nickelodeon wants to announce a renewal, in partnership with P+ or alone, I hope they don't wait months to do so.

As a Prodigy fan should I be worried?

Season 2 was also announced for Prodigy. That's coming this winter, so more firm announcements and trailer will likely be for Star Trek Day in September. Season 3 hasn't been confirmed yet, but the way that Prodigy works is a longer development cycle to make the episodes.

So, ya know, maybe you lot can go give it a watch if you've not done it already, yes, you lurking here and not contributing to the thread.

I'm quite happy with the renewals for at least another 2 seasons on two I like, and another season of Prodigy which I also like.

Be interesting to see what's going on with the chatter and noise with "Legacy" getting louder.

Its wether they want to go down the route the studio and parent company picked before to fairly solid acclaim. Picard's feedback so far has apparently been rather good, as evidenced by us lot here too.

So, do they go down the safe route, or the more potentially difficult route?

Paramount's going to watch the figures closely and wether people cancel a P+ subscription after Picard ends and the "long march" to June begins.

However, that Prodigy had been renewed for S2 was known long ago, so hopefully they at least ordered preparations (start writing the story) for S3 or the long lead time for the production may lead to a pretty long wait for those episodes at best or it may be a sign of a planned cancellation at worst.

Waltke's response seems to indicate it hasn't been decided yet, one way or the other (or at least Paramount isn't telling yet).

Sean over on Trekculture also pointed out, even if they ordered S3 greenlit tomorrow if they stagger the release into two parts again as they did Season 1, then we're looking 2025 at the earliest for Season 3 of Prodigy assuming 10 weeks of Part 1, and then 10 weeks of part 2 again.

So who knows, we might even be looking at the exact opposite situation of people turning up enough to justify more in one go. It's had an unusual releasing schedule for the show which kind of sort of works for them?

My hunch is yes. From what I've seen on the trending or popular tabs Prodigy doesn't do as well on P+. Even when it's airing new episodes it's often not among the trending or popular kid's shows in the app. I don't know how it does on Nickelodeon so that may be a factor as well. Aaron telling people a few times to rewatch Prodigy if we want more of it also gives me the sense that it may be "on the bubble" so to speak.

Prodigy is such a great show. It would be a shame if it got canceled. IMO it had the best first season of any Trek.

I think it being marketed as a kids' show hurt it. I wasn't going to watch it until I read the reviews. I am 47 and love it. I think Paramount Plus needs to do a much better job of promoting the show. Like what was said on TrekCulture that it is kind of NuTrek's redheaded step child.

If anyone on here has never seen it PLEASE give it a chance. You will not be disappointed. Spread the word!
