Prop Write-Up: Kirk's Celestial Globe (STNV)

There’s a set decoration we saw a handful of times in Star Trek: The Original Series adorning Captain Kirk’s quarters. It’s actually located in an odd little corner of Kirk’s cabin, so we don’t get to see it too often. It’s a “celestial globe”—a clear globe with the stars and constellations on...

Star Trek New Voyages in The New York Times

The New York Times did a nice write-up on Star Trek New Voyages in today's (October 12, 2015) issue. It's a nice little overview of where we've been and where we are going. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/12/nyregion/a-star-trek-dream-spread-from-upstate-new-york.html

    "Next Voyage" Font

Is there anyone here knowledgeable about fonts (old 1960s fonts) who can identify this font used in the Star Trek previews through the first and second seasons? The cross at the top of the "A" and the squared off openings in the a, e, o, and r, are odd and might provide clues.

"Torment of Destiny" Star Trek New Voyages

Some early pictures are coming in from our episode "Torment of Destiny" that we shot earlier this month. How are they looking? McCoy gets zapped in the Yonada Oracle Room as actor Richard Hatch looks on: Scotty, Chekov and Sulu on the bridge:

    Main Engineering Set Construction (NV/P2)

For our upcoming shoot of "Torment of Destiny" (that's its working title; there might be a final title change) in July, we have a scene in Main Engineering. For a couple of months now, we've been plugging away on the construction of our Main Engineering set. We have miles to go in the next two...

    ST NV/P2 "Balok's Control Light"

In our efforts to get every detail just right, I spare no expense in researching our various props and set dressings. I did a little write-up on the "Balok's Control Light" set decoration we saw in "The Corbomite Maneuver." As we at Star Trek New Voyages Phase II work on upgrading our full...

    "Enemy Starfleet!" Pyrotechnics!

I wanted to take a moment to revisit one of our older episodes. "Enemy: Starfleet!" (Teleplay by Dave Galanter and Patty Wright, Story by Dave Galanter and Gregory Brodeur, and Directed by Ben Tolpin) was our follow-up episode to "Blood and Fire." For every episode we've done, we have some...

The Passing of Our Phase II Director Mr. Mark Burchett

Mr. Mark Burchett, the director of a couple of our Star Trek Phase II episodes passed away a short while ago. Although mentioned by S'Kai in the "Mind-Sifter" thread, I thought he deserved his own thread. Mark directed our earlier attempt at shooting "Mind-Sifter" back in 2011. Although it is...

    Starship Exeter: Countdown

Well, the good news is that, as of earlier today (December 21, 2013), the Starship Exeter website is now presenting a constantly-updating countdown clock. Counting down to--what? Find it here: http://www.starshipexeter.com/ Of course, the (possibly) bad news is that this...

Release of "Kitumba" (and "The Holiest Thing")

Star Trek: Phase II is announcing the planned release dates for our next two fan-produced episodes. We have selected January 1, 2014, as the release date for the complete (and long awaited) episode “Kitumba,” in what will likely be Mr. James Cawley’s final turn in the role of “Captain Kirk.”...

Star Trek Phase II's Mudd Episode Status

In answer to a question over on the "Kitumba" thread.... Well, our Mudd story is sort of back-burnered. We've had a Mudd story in the works for years now. Mr. J.G. Hertzler was slated to direct the episode and play Harry Mudd. To make a long story short, J.G.'s schedule changed and it...

As folks might know, we've started shooting our next episode earlier this week: "Bread and Savagery"--a follow-up to the Original Series episode "Bread and Circuses." We return to the "Magna Roma" planet to see how things are going. (Hint: If things were going extremely well, this would be a...
