Invincible Iron Man #10 [spoilers; pissing/moaning]

Wow. I loved it. I found Tony Stark compelling as a character for the first time in years. Love the pacing, the story, the dialogue..just about everything. I can't remember how long it's been since I was excited about the next issue of Iron Man.

Land of the Lost Superbowl Spot

I loved the original Land of the Lost when I was a kid, and it´s sense of mystery and mythology. If there is any show that I think would benefit from a long form, serialized format ala "Lost" or a "gritty and dark" reimagining, its Land of the Lost.

    Ms. Marvel - SPOILERS

Tony was only talking one alcoholic to another alcoholic..one that was in trouble, and one that was his friend. Alcoholics in Recovery such as Tony, usually have no problem with others who drink, and don't, in general, "preach" temperance. Just thought I'd point that out. As for this story...

HERO author needs Trek fans help casting gay hero

EVERY superhero story brings up sexuality. Superman brought up his sexuality everytime he thought of Lois, and Lois for Superman. Peter Parker brought up his sexuality in every interaction with Mary Jane, Felicia Hardy, Gwen Stacy, and a dozen other women. Bruce Banner, Betty Ross. Mr...

    Dark Avengers - Your thoughts

While I agree, that the Marvel Universe is quite an interesting and entertaining place these days, I do miss the "old-days", when there wasn´t one Universe-wide crossover after another, emeshing all the books into chapters of One Big Story. I liked it better when each book had it´s own story...

    Dark Avengers - Your thoughts

If I had to guess, the cycle of "events" that started with Avengers Disassmbled, that let to Civil War, and the Superhero Registerstration, etc, will end soon following Dark Reign, ending the SHRA, redeeming Tony Stark, and leading to reconciliation of the Avengers, and it´s relaunch with...

    Thanksgiving parade radio/web broadcast?

Happy Thanksgiving all! Does anyone know where an American in Iceland can hear and/or see the Macy´s Thanksgiving Parade on the internet? I´ve done a web search, and found some webcams, but I would love to be able to hear as well. Thanks!

    Stan Lee's Gay Superhero

Well, actually, that isn't really the case in the book Hero. The main character is struggling with his identity. Maybe on the t.v. show, it can be a character arc, one that allows him to grow past it, and THEN it will become less of an issue. But as much progress has been made, our world is...

    Smallville 8x07 "Identity" - Discuss/Grade <SPOILER>

Fairly new Smallville viewer here, with a quick question: Are there any other reporters at the Daily Planet? Like, with experience or seniority? Both Clark and Lois are both barely out of college, yet they always seem to be assigned the major front page stories. Isn't the Daily Planet like a...

What the continuity nazis have wrought

Before you cast judgement, have you read the current run of Captain American that uses this character? It is regarded by many as one the strongest and well crafted stories in decades. The plot, characterization, dialogue, and artwork have been, in my opinion, consistently excellent.

Would you watch a Titan series with Riker?

This type of spin-off show could go two ways..it might be great, like Frasier, or it might be a disaster, like AfterMASH. I think with new writers, new directors, and a more modern sensibility, it could work though.

    Can Wolverine drown?

It can get a bit confusing, but I suggest picking up Uncanny X-men from issue 500...it´s a clean jump in point, and the stories are quite accesible.

Oh for cryin' out loud! (Uncle SPOILERS)

Exactly. There are some story elements that are frequently used that are archtypes, not cliches. They are used in mythic storytelling, to tap into primal human experiences. The Wicked Stepfather/Uncle/Caretaker is an archetype perfectly suited for what Star Trek is..modern myth.

What great shows have I missed?

My tastes do run the gamut..from sci-fi to drama to comedy... Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I decided to start by catching up on LOST. It seems like someone that would appeal to me, but I missed the first season, and it didn't seem like something I could jump into in the middle!
