Three days on the job and Woolsey already has to break the rules. If it makes me like the character that he is open to hearing suggestions, it will be an interesting 5th season. The hive alien looked pretty creepy, and I loved seeing Carson back on the job. It was an ok episode, but after the highs of the previous four, it was a bit of a let down.

Ah, Clone Carson. Basically a reaction to the fan backlash against Carson's death.
IMO, that's what they should have done. If you're going to negate the death, might as well go all the way.

That is what is interesting about Woolsey. He starts off as very much a stiff "by the book" bureaucrat. But he quickly realizes that approach won't work and he needs to be more flexible in order for Atlantis to succeed. And he is open to that. It's a character arc that I actually like. By the end of the show, I think you will probably end up liking Woolsey. At least, I did.

Season 5 has some cool episodes. I really like "The Daedalus Variations", "Ghost in the Machine" and "Prodigal". And the big two parter "First Contact" and "Lost Tribe" is great. And of course the big series finale is epic!

I think you will enjoy his journey
I would say go ahead and watch Origins. It is basically just 1 full length episode. It would be interesting to hear your take on if this had potential to grow or not. (As a concept)

Agents of SHIELD is in its 7 and last season starting next week. I think you will find it worthy...and would like your take on how the characters develop.

For season 1 you should also rewatch Captain America Winter Soldier too.

About as much as Stargate Atlantis writers.

I remember liking Woosley a lot more on Atlantis to the point I wish he took over in season 4 because he could have grown even more.

I know what happens and how it might tie into season 1. Of course I don't mind rewatching WS, as I still think that was the best movie the MCU has ever done.

You should watch it in between two very specific episodes. You know which ones when you see them.

An episode about old friends, wraith worshiper and drug addiction/withdrawal. It was your typical Ronon episode, and I'm glad they didn't carry out Teyla's decision to join the team too long. Heck, I was actually surprised at Woolsey during the scene where he was talking about his Dog to Teyla. He actually showed some human sympathy there. I love that his idea of comfort is a suit and tie, and the scene where he was trapped in the conference room got a chuckle out of me.

By the way, I'm planning to watch the movie tonight after Dinner.

This one was very interesting. We got a good team dynamic with the four and I liked the idea of a ship with an alternate universe drive. They even managed to squeeze in a pretty good space battle. More of that and I might start thinking Atlantis is the best sci fi series when it comes to space battles because they've all be really impressive in this series. I still think the one in Allies/No Man's Land was the best but lately they've all been really good. Those aliens looked like Borg Drones without all the wires.

Yeah, Atlantis was great with space battles.

I was waiting for you to reach this episode. It is one of my favorite Atlantis episodes. I also thought the aliens were really interesting and powerful. I wish we had seen them again.

IIRC, my biggest issue with "Variations": is that while it's a fun ride, it raises questions that go unanswered.

Do you have any examples? I had a couple, like who was part of the Atlantis down below when they were fighting the aliens, and are these same aliens in our universe? I think in an episode like this there are bound to be unanswered questions. TNG's parallels was the same way, and that episode is almost universally acclaimed.

Those were two of the questions I had, yes. :p

It may be partly a problem of this being the show's last season, but I think I was hoping that the appearance of those aliens was foreshadowing an appearance in the Primeverse.

And so the Adventures of SG-1 have come to an end. I'm actually a little sad about that because it was just so much fun watching this group go on adventures for the last 2 months. There are always re-watches and new things to discover though. I do think in about a year I could find myself watching SG-1 again.

As for this movie, I liked it better than Ark of Truth, but it was still a made for TV movie. It was basically one final adventure to deal with Ba'al, who has eluded capture until now. I appreciated the cameos of General Hammond and Jack O'Neill and overall I just felt this was a tighter written story than Ark of Truth, which was hindered because of the Replicator plot line. I really liked the scenes when SG-1 was first on the Alexandria and meet up with the alternate version of Jack. We get to see the interrogation, 24 style, and the scene with Landry telling them they had to find new identities was kind of sad. I actually wished we got to see more of their Alternate lives (Why could they not see each other but they still had each other's cell number?) but this movie was only 94 minutes and we had a plot to cover.

The rest of it was basically an SG-1 episode. Ba'al comes with a fleet of Goa'uld ships, Quetesh (Vala) kills Ba'al and siezes power, and the rest of it is a shoot'em up action piece to restore the timeline. It was a nice last hurrah for SG-1, even if the ending could have had a more appropriate goodbye. I guess you can only say goodbye so many times. There are episodes of SG-1 that are better than this movie though, so that's why I would probably give it like a 3.5 out of 5.

I feel as though my opinion of "Continuum" would be higher if "Moebius" wasn't a thing.

My two main reservations about "Ark of Truth" aside (replicators, moral issues), I find it the better film because it has a plot that actually means something. "Continuum" is a fun watch, but it's depressing that SG-1 ends with a "reset button" plot. Sure there's the Ba'al stuff, but that's about five minutes of the overall film.

I was thinking about Moebius when I was watching it. I too thought it was better.

That was incredibly sad. It had to be done, sending the Replicators, especially Weir, through the space gate, but I was actually shocked they went there and didn't show any compassion to them. I've been looking forward to this episode ever since the ending of BAMSR and we saw Weir on the ship in command and it did not disappoint. I loved the idea that Niem's group, through wanting to ascend was still a threat and the leader of this group was able to break out and show that yeah these replicators couldn't be trusted. I also enjoyed the interactions with this Weir and Morgan did a great job imitating Torri Higginson. Still, what a downer of an ending. :(

My biggest issue with Continuum is that after Moebius and Unending, this is the third time SG-1 has done a reset button finale. The problem of course, is that it wasn't supposed to be the last movie. There was supposed to be one more movie that would have Jack as the main character and reveal the Stargate to the world. Sadly it didn't happen.

That is indeed a shame, a whole movie with Jack sounds great
