Falling Skies Season 4 discussion thread - Spoilers

It seems like the expenditure of resources against the Volm and Humanity cannot possibly be worth any potential gains against their primary foe.

It does seem like their attempt at taking Earth is draining their resources faster than what their previous conquests might've gained them. The very fact that they've stepped up on the offense against humanity suggests that the efforts made by the 2nd Mass, the Volm and other human resistance groups are taking more of a toll than the Fishheads are letting on.

didn't Cochise say (or was it the rebel skitter) that they weren't expecting this level of resistance from humans? They haven't had this level of resistance from many other races. Dealing with this has required more resources and approaches than they had planned for.

Yeah.
Did the last episode seem better to anyone else, or am I just used to the new storyline enough that I can just enjoy it for what it's become now?

There was another episode called Exodus with David Eick at the helm that was also pretty good... ;) ;)

I thought it was a little better than the others, but I really don't like the magic baby/woman storyline.
I'm really just watching this because I hate quitting shows, and it's on right after The Last Ship.

^I thought it was a pretty good episode--much better pacing than some others. But, yes, the "star child" storyline just kinda kills it for me. Hubby is a completist and wants to watch everything to the bitter end. Otherwise, I might have bailed on this one. I love Noah Wylie but the show is getting on my nerves a bit with the "magical hybrid" routine.

Haven't cared for any episodes this season. I can understand what they're going for with the brainwashing camp and the (extremely lax) concentration camp and the "we are of peace, always" camp, but they all just happened out of the blue. And even if there's a legitimate plan for follow through with these plots (with at least one of them is a total dud), I have a feeling the resolutions will be extremely underwhelming. Especially since these are some pretty incompetent aliens they've been fighting.

Still convinced Lourdes is the worst character to ever be in the main cast credits of a TV show.

^^ But she's adorable, so I'm rooting for her. :rommie:

The Star-Child and the Nazi Youth Camp are way too V for me, but I still like the show otherwise. I hope the youth camp plot is dropped (with intervention from Cochise) and that they have some twist on the Star-Child thing that will make it worthwhile. Otherwise, I'm just hoping the new aliens will be interesting.

You're right, he did in fact say that, indicating that the majority of races that both the Volm and the Espheni have encountered are either quite primitive or just not nearly as aggressive as us humans.

While leads me to wonder about the 'other threat' the Head Fishhead mentioned to Tom. Are they not the norm either, or are they something else? Could they be the Fishhead's first attempts at creating their own army of super-soldiers that backfired on them, much the way the Cylons turned on humanity in BSG?

As usual, I won't get to watch tonight's ep until tomorrow after work, but I'm still enjoying the show, despite the various faults in the narrative. As I've stated, I'll go with it as long as we get a definitive finish to it in the end.

To me, this episode could have been done in the last 10 minutes. That's what I liked from it anyway.

I will continue to watch because all in all, I enjoy the show. It's a good sci-fi show.

Pope is a dick but Colin Cunningham is awesome.

Quite the Merchant of Venice conundrum.

You can't do bad or good against one without unfortunately effecting the other.

I haven't watched the last few episodes (Only have seen the premiere.) and wondering if I have missed anything? I'm guessing no.

I agree, the star child crap has been done before and even then it was crap. But I'll give the show a chance since I've watched it from the start.

It doesn't matter that an academy award winning and a Golden Globe winning actress joins the cast because she's got boobies?

If she joined an award winning show, or even a show with decent writing I might care. But this show is such a mess I want hot guys or a plot that isn't a rehash of last year.
