It was stupid the way he handed himself over. He had a dozen hours to plan and the CIA, MI-5, and MI-6 to help him. They didn't even search him at the hand over.

He had to hand himself over because he knew there were three minutes left in the season.

This is how things work on 24. There's only one way to do things. Jack says so a lot.

Hell, it doesn't matter how far up the chain of command you are. Whether you're the Special Agent in Charge, the CTU Director, Division, head of the CTA, a high ranking General, the Chief of Staff, the President of the United States, it doesn't matter -- whatever Jack Bauer commands, you do it.

Ergo, he simply commanded the Russians to take him, because you do what he says.

It's just the start of another mission. He'll be taken to the same prison as a high-value target wearing awful eye makeup.

I've always liked William Devane and his moment at the end their talking about him losing his memories was really, really, good.

Although if this ever actually happened, if people listened to Jack, allowed him to do his job properly and didn't get in his way, the show would simply be called 2.

Frankly, I think that's why Heller essentially did an about face in the span of a single episode, first wary of Bauer one minute and then giving him full access to American resources in the UK the next. The Hellers were the only ones who have experienced how Jack operates, whereas others like Boudreau and Navarro doubted him -- and it turned out that they had their own agendas anyway.

Well, if anything, this season has brought back the respect of 24 that was lost in season 8.

It shpwed the series still has good stories in it.

I watched the entire season over the span of 3 days:

    3 episodes
    3 episodes
    6 episodes

I probable would not have enjoyed it as much over 12 weeks.

That's why I loves Season 7, Renee kept going off about how Jack was "Right every step of the way."

I've always said my favorite part of this show is when other characters realize Jack was right and then spend the next few moments apologizing for being wrong.

And in regards to Chloe's make-up, have they said why they did the character this way? And also, am I the only one that liked it?

I didn't find the makeup attractive, but more significantly I just think it's bizarre that she would be made up that way while in CIA custody. Why would she put on makeup like that when she's just going to spend the day strapped to a torture bench?

It's reasonable to assume she had the make up on before she got strapped to the chair.

She had been in custody for a while, hadn't she?

I don't recall. It's been a while since I have seen the first episode or two.

Seemed to me she had fairly recently been captured (like within the last day or so.) Not-Julian Assange didn't seem to express to much concern ("Where have you been the last three days?!") when Chloe returned. Any longer than a day I suspect the CIA would have relocated her to a detention center. Even if she had been there longer than a day, I doubt they would have given her much time to get cleaned up and change her clothes.

To go back to the original point I made though, I liked the look. I think it was used in order to give the season a unique feel, and to denote that a long time had passed since Season 8.

I can understand people's issues with the eye liner, but at least it's not as bad as her haircut in Season 7, which really made Mary Lynn's face look really fat.

At this point, I think William Devane could run for real president and win. He was one of the most human people we have ever seen on 24 amongst all the big characters.

I think a season can be designed around Kate, Chloe and whomever else they can write in without it being stupid rescuing Jack. Kate has enough credibility now to take the lead.

Would a breakout even be appropriate? Russia does have a legitimate beef with him, illegal extradition notwithstanding. I prefer the idea of Bauer dealing for his freedom when they need his help.

Jack Bauer apparently driving the 80 miles from London to Southampton in about 15 minutes was hilarious. He didn't even use the M3.
