So, I'm rewatching The Next Generation.
There have already been a couple of Officers who are complete arses...
So far, Lt. Logan is the biggest one.

He tries to have Geordi second guess himself, then tries to convince him to leave the Away-Team on the Planet.

Then, when Geordi decides to leave the Away-Team, Lt. Logan acts all incredulous and high-and-mighty, like he wouldn't do that when he was the first to suggest it!

Who and why do you feel belongs to this list?

Wasn't pretty much every Admiral a bit of a knob? ;)

Dr. Pulaski - volunteering Data w/o permission into a competition
The ensign Armus killed..."but Captain its almost gone." - douche

That jackass engineer that somehow felt the need to say his full name - first, middle and last - every time he got on the comm system.

Every 24th century human in TNG is an asshole, it's not limited to Starfleet. It just comes to us naturally by then because we think we're God's gift to the galaxy.

^ Ain't that the truth. :sigh:

(Picard and Riker were the worst of the lot, in that respect.)

And another vote for Pulaski, who was a complete grouch 24/7 and seemed to enjoy treating Data like shit.

Ignoring the obvious answer, which would be, the entire crew of the USS Arrogance in the Federation Smugfleet, because everyone in the TNG universe had varying degrees of assholish arrogant smugness that just slimed all over the screen, I would really have to go with Pulaski and Admiral Nechayev.

Pulaksi because she was just unbearable. Like, even early Picard paled in comparison to her conceited attitude and assholish behavior. I mean, missaying Data's name and repeatedly referring to him as an 'it' is just ridiculous.

Nechayev seemed to exist to only ooze all over the screen with an asshole demeanor. When the DS9 crew was captured by the Changelings and put in a mind-fuck simulation, Nechayev's behavior did not seem out of place at all. I get that there's the whole 'stern commanding officer' behavior, but, there's a whole different level with her.

The admiral in Ensign Ro takes the cake. Gullible, arrogant, and criminal.

^ Ro herself was worse, IMHO.

I am unable to agree with this assessment because I simply fell head over heels in LOVE with Nechayev the moment I first saw her. :adore:

Nechayev ain't so bad. Picard deserved to be browbeaten for passing on the opportunity to wipe out the Borg.

Lieutenant Commander Leland T. Lynch FTW.

No other officers in the entire history of the series has ever felt the need to announce themselves using their entire rank and full name including middle initial.

It seems Nechayev is considered a realistic flag officer for a military command, and would fit in with a military Starfleet.

^ And at least Nechayev had the good graces to thank Picard for trying to make her feel welcome on his ship.

Nogulich's interview in the CoC documentary adds a lot to her character, IMO. Not quite the ice queen I've thought of her as.

Armus killed Tasha Yar, not an Ensign.

Captain James T. Kirk would like to talk to you...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard would also like a chat...

The novel "Kobayashi Maru" had the best reaction to Kirk using "Captain James T. Kirk" as his introduction on subspace. First the Klingons going; 'What, THE Captain James T. Kirk?....oh I'm sorry, please don't kill us' type response, followed by the "dead" navigator cracking up in his seat.

Jean-Luc is his first name, not first and middle.
