First five scripts of series eight leaked online

Well, I'm not going to stick around this tried since I don't want the new series spoiled. But let me see if I have the gist of it. The people who've enjoyed who lately think it sounds promising, or are willing to wait and see. The ones who thought Eleven was the worst thing ever and who think Moffet is the devil absolutely hate the new Doctor and the new series.

Is that pretty much it?

Put it this way - and I'll try not to spoil it but you can probably guess it - I'm two pages through ep801 and I groaned when I read who appears in it. Dear gods please kill them off!

Also, the runtimes have leaked, BTW - they're a little longer this year! Which must be related to there being only 12 episodes, but with 13 worth of footage altogether (I presume)

The first episode is 79'09" at 24fps as specified in the script. In the BBC they run at 25fps, which puts it at 75 minutes.

STOP ASKING FOR OR OFFERING TO SEND THESE SCRIPTS. Any further attempts will result in a one-week ban.

How about closing this thread and banning all discussion of the scripts. The damage is done, but TrekBBS could at least help to limit the impact.

What damage? This is a forum where people try to find as many spoilers as possible usually, if people don't want to learn about the spoilers and wait until the series airs, they could jut ignore this thread while others can talk freely. I see nothing wrong with that. :)

This forum is not Gallifrey Base, such a knee-jerk reactionary attitude doesn't help at all. I understand and agree with not posting the actual scripts or links to them, as that's essentially distributing copyrighted material. But discussing the content of the scripts is fine. Spoilers have never been banned on this forum. They're required to be spoiler-coded to respect those who don't want to be spoiled, but once the info is out there, you can't really prevent anyone from talking about it. And trying to do that is just going to create more problems than it'll solve.

There's no problem with discussing spoilers. Any requests for the scripts or offers to share them, however, will result in a one-week ban, as I said last night.

Wasn't there a news story that already said they were going to be in that episode so you had fair warning.

The only thing I want to know in regards to season 8 is does the Doctor get over the amnesia or not.

So basically fandom was looking hard at something that wasn't there? Shocking.

I'd say so. :)

In my opinion, "Deep Breath" demonstrates Moffat's tendency to ignore the implications of what he's done. We as viewers know that the Doctor spent 900 years on Trenzalore and that, in terms of his life, he knew Clara for a brief moment an immense amount of time ago and it's been a long, long time since he's flown the TARDIS. Yet, the script acts as though the Doctor's last flown the TARDIS and seen the Pasternoster Gang within the last month, and there's a conversation at the end between the Doctor and Clara that has some truly creepy overtones for the eleventh Doctor's relationship with Clara.

Basically, the Doctor carried a torch for Clara for nine hundred years. That's the only way to make sense of the Doctor's apology to Clara for having fancied her and treated her like his girlfriend when they traveled together. Which, let me remind you, was nine hundred years earlier in the Doctor's lifetime.

If the Doctor carried the guilt for Gallifrey's destruction for four hundred years -- and that was over his genocide of billions of his own people -- then remember that the Doctor is carrying that for twice as long. Ponder that. Clara is that important to the Doctor's life that he feels it necessary to say something after 900 years.

A Doctor who's functionally an amnesiac because it's been nine hundred years since he's flown the TARDIS or done or seen anything that's not on Trenzalore makes sense to the audience and would be true to the characters. A Doctor who barely knows Clara and needs to rebuild his relationship with her because he hasn't really interacted with her in nine hundred years makes sense. But Moffat doesn't play it that way at all. It's disappointing that he can't embrace his own stories and deal with their fallout.

Okay, seriously, even with Spoiler Text, this entire forum is littered with examples, and heated Fandom discussions that have boiled over the hide the story mark, can we get the title "Spoilers" or " EAYOR" (enter at your own risk) added to the title? no offense to the patrons concerned.. I totally understand the excitement. I was browsing to see what the news was behind the leakers, and what their fate is, and if it became a big news story on UK tele.. Not get info, whether sucky or good..from what I have read so far, seems like suckness is in full effect for the new series, but I am an eternal Optimist, and figure maybe the writing will be pulled off much better by the acting.. but who knows..I am going to steer clear from this forum post just so I can keep that glint of hope.. I don't want to see this show become a shit storm of crappiness.. However, I may be too late..

Allyn, I'm fine with that because the less I'm reminded of Time of the Doctor, the better!

But, seriously, the issue you describe really is trivial and doesn't negatively impact the story at all. I found it to be a fun romp with humor.

And, the Doctor does have to rebuild his relationship with Clara in this story. That's definitely part of the story. But, the story doesn't get mired down in that aspect either because that would be boring. It's just one thing going on out of many.

Again, I thought it was a fun romp.

To be honest, I'm with you there. I have no idea what Moffat was thinking there.

I think I was expecting it to be handled differently. I was expecting the characters to be functionally strangers to the Doctor because of the Trenzalore experience. I didn't get that sense.

^ I can see your point and I'm sure that this is a case where reasonable minds will differ in terms of how to handle things.

Personally, I don't watch DW for very realistic character interactions and not getting bogged down in stuff like that works out well for me. I thought it was covered enough, but not too much.

But, I can definitely see that other viewers want that sort of interaction and, if that's what they're looking for, yeah, they won't get that in Breath Deep. (I haven't and don't plan to read the later scripts.)

The Doctor doesn't always seem as affected by the passage of time as humans are. He can't even really get his age straight. Plus he was able to resume his relationships with Amy, Rory, River and Craig even though a few centuries had passed from his POV in season 6.

Well I gave in and just read the first story, I will wait to see the other 4 and not read those scripts.
