I don't remember any Australians drinking Fosters. I basically got the lecture when I arrived: No one drinks that, and you Americans have been fooled.

We went up to Queensland once, and had a great time. We stayed in Rockhampton, went to Great Keppel Island...there was a really cool underwater observatory near there.

One of my favorite stops was Cooberrie Park:

I held a Koala and fed a kangaroo out of my hand. How tourist-y is that??

Oh, so it's the tiny little ones that you can't keep your eyes on that will sneak up and poison you?

The secret is to spread it really, REALLY thin. Almost not there thin. Enjoy! :)

My preference these days is Promite, with a little lite cream cheese, ona corn cake (it's a diet thing)

What I think of Abbott (I saw this the day of the election):

UI came up with the idea of the lolpol, just before the previous election, these came out OK

I think I drank some Fosters around 20 years ago. Horrible stuff. If you want a good popular Australian beer - have some Crown Lager.

I could write a list of things that I love about this country, like awesome people and the ABC.

^ You are exactly right. Crown Lager is great! I also have a fondness for Cascade, James Boag, Hahn and James Squire. The ABC is great, despite various governments trying to strangle it on both sides of politics. The people are pretty damn good.

So many good things. Road trips, The Great Barrier Reef, Sydney and it's Harbour. Aussie music ( :D ), Mad Max (same guy also made Happy Feet), the multicultural mix. It goes on.

For a flavour of Australia, see if you can get a hold of the video 'Adam Hills Stands Up', really funny, especially his routine about meeting Lady Gaga and the Queen, and a local pizza shop he went to (which is so mulitcultural Aussie it verges on awesome). As someone Down Here says, do yourself a favour. Just checked YT, the 2 routines mentioned above are there, but really, watch the whole thing. Also, his comments on Joan Rivers when she dissed Adele are damn good too.

Anyone wants to come Down Here, you'd be welcome.

Though one thing about Australian beers - aren't most of them now owned by Lion Nathan out of New Zealand.

Btw how many people have heard of a Pie Floater (something that like Frog Cakes is probably uniquely South Australian).

Most beer is pretty good here, true I don't drink bottom tier stuff like VB but it is a work of art compared to Budweiser or Fosters. My most basic go to beer would be Coopers Pale Ale. I haven't had a Crown in a few years but last time I did I remember thinking it was quite tasty. Lately I've been drinking Ruby Tuesday on tap because it seems to be everywhere now and it's a very simple, bitter red ale that goes great with food.

There are like a gazillion more roos in this country than there were before european settlement because all the crops planted feed them. They are not endangered LOL. The meat is extremely lean. I remember I hadn't eaten beef for years, only roo and when I had a beef steak the feeling of fattiness was awful.

I'm glad someone other than me said it. The smaller species can, in many cases, be legitimately considered endangered. The larger ones...they're almost a plague.

And they are the most useless, ugly, repulsive, stinking (live or dead) and stupid creature on the planet. Whatever anyone else says.
