They're actually working on 'Pacific Rim 2'

Well, this mecha fan is definitely up for it, even if it wasn't exactly the greatest movie, it still was very entertaining.

Anyhow, if you did, or didn't for that matter, like Pacific Rim you should be in the the theater now seeing Edge of Tomorrow. It's really quite good and is majorly unappreciated in the box office.

You know, when they played that speech of Elba's over and over in the promos, I felt they were spoiling things, that when we saw that scene in the movie, it would already feel played out. Instead I found myself eagerly anticipating it and then mouthing the words along with Elba -- the familiarity of it made it even more potent.

Del Toro is writing a Pacific Rim 2 story? Shouldn't he write a story for the first movie first?

damn!!!....BOOM shaka laka!...always like your posts, Gaith! :techman:

...but I must agree with those above who found PR1 entertaining and such...I did, too, though I could not help thinking of "The Matrix" for some of the machines...good, mindless fun!... :)

I had that exact experience Christopher.

Put me in the "good" category too. Loved that movie, great dumb fun.

Loved this moment on the big screen

I'm definitely down for more Pacific Rim. :D

Though I'd be perfectly happy if they chucked the kaiju and just went with all-out mecha fights. But that's another movie and verse.

A Starship Troopers-meets-Groundhog Day movie in which we get to see Tom Cruise get repeatedly pwned? You bet I'm planning to see it. :techman:

I wasn't expecting much, and it was actually a lot better than I expected. I liked it more than Transformers for sure. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

Gave my home cinema gear a good workout and it was entertaining, so I'm up for a sequel. Not every movie has to have a "deep message" or "be about something". A joyride can be its own reward.

I hope that when this comes to fruition, it'll be a more logically thought out movie than the first. Ex. the issue of why Gipsy Danger's sword wasn't used more often.

Pacific Rim wasn't trying to be logical. It was trying to pay homage to the conventions of its genre. It's part of the long tradition of movies and TV shows about giant robots fighting kaiju that they don't pull out their biggest weapon until the fight reaches its climax. Logic has nothing to do with that.

I really liked the movie too.

It accomplished what it set out to do.. an hoommage to all Kaiju vs. Robot movies with state of the art SFX.

The Jaegers just looked so damn cool and the Kaiju were awesome too and that's all i needed. The deal was sealed when i saw the trailer and the Jaeger dragging a friggin' ship behind it to use as a club against a Kaiju :eek::techman:

I'll be definitely there for Pacific Rim 2 because sometimes i need some wild and dumb action. Del Toro is not primarily known for dumb blockbuster movies as opposed for Michael Bay but i found this movie far better in terms of action and overall display than Bay movies (especially the Transformers movies) who likes to use shaky cam and extreme closeups which led to a jumbled mess on the screen where you couldn't really tell what's happening.

I liked but not loved Pacific Rim but I am looking forward to a sequel. Hopefully it does happen. We need more giant monsters fighting giant robots movies. :)

I really enjoyed 'Pacific Rim' (still can't get the soundtrack out of my head) but I'm not sure there's enough there to warrant a sequel. Mind you I had a similar opinion about Hellboy and GMT managed to kick Hellboy 2 so far out of the park that before it'd even hit the ground I was ready for Hellboy 3.

...speak of which, I'm still waiting GMT. *folds arms. taps feet.*

Well, if there's giant robots, and they punch monsters, there's probably enough for about five thousand sequels. :p
