Just got caught up last night. Everyone has pretty much covered it but I just wanted to add that although I loved Bill Paxton in this and was sorry to see him go, I couldn't help but be reminded of his character in True Lies every time he was on screen.

    Looking forward to next season!

    :wtf:

That guy in True Lies was a total wimp, a fraud, a wannabe badass. Garrett was the real deal.

Finding details like this, combined with the slow-burn setup earlier in the season when they couldn't give away TWS, gives me confidence that the show-runners actually have a good idea of what they want to do, and aren't just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks like many shows have been known to do....

Really? I hadn't figured that out on my own own at all. :vulcan:

I just found it amusing that in True Lies he played a fake spy and now on SHIELD he is basically the spy his character wanted to be in True Lies. He even used the same voice for Garrett as he did in True Lies when his character was pretending to be a spy.

Oh, your original post made it seem that you'd maybe missed out on some of the uh, basics, thus the use of the :wtf:, icon in my post. Glad to see it wasn't as bad as it appeared. ;)

This is a bit old, but has anyone noticed how Centipede serum-powered individuals such as Mike Peterson and John Garrett didn't have fiery flesh regenerations like Aldrich Killian and his forces in Iron Man 3? How is this possible if the Centipede serum contains Extremis?

    It was highly tinkered with.

Maybe it was the dendrotoxin that Mike was shot with in the pilot that stabilized him. Perhaps it had other effects on Extremis.

Actually it was the blood platelets extracted from "Scorch" in "Girl in the Flower Dress" that let them stabilize the Extremis component in the Centipede serum and cancel out its combustive effects. So no more "fiery." Maybe this limits the regenerative effect too, considering that Mike didn't grow his leg back or heal his scars.

^The fact that Mike's leg didn't grow back is why I attributed it to the dendrotoxin instead of Chan's platelets.

I'd speculate that they didn't want a bunch of full on extremis super-soldiers running around as they'd be too difficult to control. The point of the project from day one appears to have been to combine advanced cybernetics with advanced bio-tech. That way you get the superior strength, durability and integrated control system of a machine combined with a body that can keep pace with the strain of carting all that metal around and heal itself when needed.

That aside, it's possible the they of aggressive regeneration we saw in Killian's people would have made the host body reject the cybernetics.

For him, maybe. But "Flower Dress" made a point about how getting Scorch's platelets was the key to stabilizing the serum for use in others.

Uh, is Deathlok even using the Centipede implant now? I thought he was pure Cybertek now instead, with Garrett being the weirdo with both cybernetics and Centipede. Raina certainly seemed surprised that he had it with his cybernetics.

The larger wrist implant his uses grafted itself over it. It's still there, though it may be mostly redundant.

So...in "The Only Light in the Darkness", Koenig mentions his brother in a far more conventional context, telling Skye that when they were kids, they'd give each other nicknames, e.g., "Lightning Foot".
