Interesting finale ... Henry is dead, killed in a joust by an incognito Francis. Lola goes into labor, and Mary tells Francis he's the daddy. The Darkness was a deranged man, not a beast. It was funny watching the ending. Mary goes, "Francis, you must go to Lola. She's giving birth to your child!" Then a couple minutes later, "Francis, don't go. There's going to be a plague!" I never thought I'd get hooked on this show.
I went into last night's episode thinking that Bash would die in his search for the Darkness. So when he survived -- and then he and Kenna said that they loved each other -- I didn't know quite what to think. Especially considering that Bash and Kenna didn't like each other two months ago and now they're besotted with each other. Mary has become one of the least sympathetic characters on the series, and that scene was her unsympathetic self in a nutshell. I'm curious if Anna Poppelwell was on the fence about returning for a second season, because the way the episode ends Lola's fate could go either way. Me, neither. I liked the series a lot more in the Back Nine, once they nuked the Mary/Francis/Bash love triangle from orbit and went more for the political machinations. It was like a PG-13 Tudors.
Is Frances going to be undone by Nostradamus' prophecies of this exact thing happening published years earlier?
I don't see a reason in a new thread & I hope it is okay to use this for S2. http://www.cwtv.com/shows/reign Reign. Season premiere THURSDAY, OCT. 2nd 9PM EST [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geVIFma98Pk[/yt] Reign - The Plague Extended Trailer Can't wait!
looking forward to it. i've read up a bit on the actual history so i'm curious to see how things play out. i'd say Francis is dead by the end of this season.
So we're going to get a brand new allotment of hot young things, and miserable old evil bastards? Can't wait.

I saw The new episode pop up online around 4 am, just before I passed out. Supercontrived and ridiculous. I was really let down by the episode.
Question: How historically accurate is this show? Mary Queen of Scots ruled two centuries after the Black Death in Europe.
It plays fast and loose with history. It might as well be all fiction according to some critics from S1. LOL.
its not very accurate at all really. Bash did not exist and most of Mary's ladies in waiting were much younger. in their early teens i believe.
I look at it as purely fiction. Liked the EP tonight a lot. Francis was a highlight. I was sad to see the redhead and her family die. Next week looks interesting.
It's not historically accurate. Mary and Francis are older than they were in real life. Mary grew up in the French court, she wasn't sent to a nunnery until she was summoned. (Which is where the series began.) Francis was a sickly child, and it's very unlikely that he had any sexual experiences at all. (He had undescended testicles. He wouldn't have been able to get anyone pregnant.) Right on Bash. Also, all of the ladies in waiting were named "Mary." There's a song about them, "The Four Maries." I'm not sure if they killed Castleroy or just his daughter, Yvette. I guess we'll find out next week. I'm already gritting my teeth if they killed Castleroy just so that we can have more tension between Greer and Leith. As for the episode itself, I wasn't as engaged with it as I was with the first season. It wasn't quite as mental or as madcap. There wasn't quite the same energy. We got a few scenes of Catherine chortling for joy and drunk with power, but they didn't pack quite the same punch. I was also disappointed that Pascal died of the plague. I was hoping that the revelation towards the end of last season that Bash killed his family would actually mean something.
Where did Nostradamus' beard go? Is that his Plague preparation? Shave instantly! I'm making my way through First Wave at the moment. 90s Syfy about an alien hunter rooting out a secret invasion, guided by the secret additional prophecies of Nostradamus... Wouldn't a backhanded under the radar cross over be a little awesome?
