<<the mystery of just what's going on at the sanctuary to keep us wondering until fall. >> What mystery? They're cannibals. When Rick n' company were running around the complex they ran past a vast pile of human skeletons with the flesh stripped off!
Not a religious bone there, but it appeared the names painted on the candle room ground were people who ended up on the dinner plate...or former "residents" selected to be a meal?
Yes, and the symbolism or Rick stopping things before any of his group ate the meat. We can't show the good guys eating human flesh, even if accidentally. Spoiler: The comics Since we are in the cannibal storyline, it was revealed the cannibals ate their children first, thinking they could have more some day. They also claimed eating people was easier because hunting game was hard. These people at Terminus don't seem to have that complaint, what with snipers and all those automatic weaponss.
Agreed. Obviously Carol and Tyreese will play some part in helping them escape from the train car and no doubt Carol's pragmatism about this new world will alert her to the evil people at Terminus. I wonder what part Mary aka Tasha Yar aka Denise Crosby will play next season. She was noticeably absent last night unless I missed something? I'm now officially going through TWD withdrawals until the fall. Thank goodness Games of Thrones comes on later this week.
Here is one funny satirical criticism of last night's episode in my local newspaper the AJC this morning:
^Honestly, we don't know how close Joe and the fellow Rick killed was. He may have save Joe's life a few times. Maybe the over the top villain explanation was warranted by Joe.
You have to admit though it's a funny criticism - and true? It reminds me especially of the Bond film, Moonraker where Drax tries to find ever more absurd ways to kill Bond as opposed to simply shooting him in the head preceded often by a long lecture on how Bond was going to die.
Finally watched it this morning. LOVED. IT. All we have to do is get Carol and Tyrese back in the mix and it's pretty much perfection. Yeah, those skeletons stripped of flesh were pretty hard to miss. Gross. Doesn't anybody know how to fish? Tastier than cannibal hamburgers any day. Much less guilt. Rick's descent into madness played well. Andrew Lincoln, as always, knows how to bring it. The "you're my brother" moment was absolutely one hundred percent worth the price of admission. Fangirl bromance squeeing going on in abundance. Daryl will have to use his brother status to get Carol welcomed back in the fold, I'm sure. There's going to be a spin off? Maybe Carol will star in that. Melissa McBride's a pretty strong lead IMO.
monologing is a long standing tradition for tv/movie villains. You wouldn't want to rob them of their traditions would you?
It's going to be unadapted characters in a new setting. The cannibal route is what I thought this was going to play out as, but it looks like they're going with some kind of dark magic way of devouring flesh.
I was kinda disappointed that Joe's group was all killed off. Jeff Kober did such a good job with it that I wouldn't have minded if he went into the next season. It would have been interesting had they made it to Terminus and what might have happened. Although that whole scene was pretty brutal. It was definitely the best part of the episode. So I was thinking about how they're going to get out of this one. Surely it can't be Tyreese and Carol to the rescue since they're hauling a baby around. Hopefully they were just outside Terminus when all the gunfire started, and they retreated back into the wilderness. And then there's Beth. I was hoping we'd find out more about her situation, but I guess (hope) that will come at the start of next season. Perhaps she and whoever she is with will end up saving the gang at Terminus, but she doesn't even really know where everybody is even. It's also possible she is at Terminus, but I think we might have seen her then?
Um, same thing? cannibalism is cannibalism no matter how you dress it up. Unless you're hinting that they're introducing real magic into the show? Which, just No.
If only there were some other way to watch it... Like when it's replayed an hour later (11pm). Or MULTIPLE times over the next day or two. Or on-demand. Or the internet. Annoying for sure, but it's just internet outrage at its best. Come on. Had that happened to me, I'd have downloaded it and finished watching before TWD had even finished airing at 10pm...
No. But the characters from the comics were more like the Claimers. They were just assholes eating flesh. These Terminus folk are a lot creepier.
Explaining himself makes perfect sense. The whole point of revenge is to make sure the other guy knows what they did. There's no satisfaction in just killing them outright.
What a pretty underwhelming finale, although Rick going for the jugular was pretty awesome! Also the Terminus folks are either terrible at aiming or they intently shot around them corralling them like cattle to the train car.
