Star Trek Vanguard Bible (Potential Spoilers)

It's appropriate that I see this thread after literally just finishing Storming Heaven a few moments ago.

What a ride. Now to comb through the series bible to see how close the series stuck to it as it developed!

The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray:)
As do the best-planned lays.

Will there be a similar Bible for the Seekers series when it comes out?
We created one, certainly. However, we'd prefer to keep the series bible under wraps while the series is still a going concern. The Vanguard series bible was released only after the last book in the saga had been published.

Is there a vague idea of how long Seekers would last? Similar to Vanguard with an endpoint or ongoing and indefinite like New Frontier or the post-finale TV-based series?

Right now, it looks like there's just the two books that are planned to come out this summer. I don't know how long Seekers is supposed to last.

My understanding is that Seekers is more of a TOS-style episodic adventure series, so it should be pretty open-ended.

^ Seekers is designed to run for as long as we want to write it and folks want to buy it. As Christopher noted, it is designed to be more episodic and less serialized than Vanguard was. It has no predetermined endgame.

Also, I am currently plotting Seekers #3 (at the request of my editor).

So it is more a TOS and not a movie era ( like a Endeavour refit, because she was heavily damaged in the last Vanguard book)?

It will start in 2269, near or just after the end of TOS's third season. The Endeavour and the Sagittarius will both retain their TOS-era styling, despite having been repaired after the Battle of Vanguard. Whether they will be refitted into TMP-style as the series continues has not yet been decided.

I've been wondering about this in regard to the uniform change. Will that be mentioned as books progress closer to TMP?

^ Maybe. Maybe not. We might resist that change for a while. Canonically, it didn't happen until around 2271, so we might squeeze in several stories about both ships while TOS uniforms remain in effect.

In my opinion, if Seekers gets to the point where the authors have to deal with the uniform change, then I'll consider that a good thing because it will likely mean that the series has become a long-running success. :techman:

I hope not! Just because Enterprise changed does not mean every ship has to change.

Good point! Plus, you kind of have the built-in justification that both ships are away from the heart of the Federation, so they'd probably be okay getting by on old uniforms like Voyager did. I'm just glad more of the twenty third century's being explored in writing. There's so much ground to cover beyond what Kirk and the Enterprise were doing during the same time period. And with the huge gap between TMP and TWOK, there's even more opportunities beyond just the period between the end of the TV series and the start of the films.
