^ Nah, I wouldn't go for something like that. I feel they're just stringing people along. Tourists shouldn't be left on the ropes. 
If you have limited time why would you want to go see a sporting stadium of a sport your country doesn't even have?
If you have 2 days, go to NYC, you'll feel like you saw plenty.
If you have more time and like nature etc.. pick something you always wanted to see like the Grand Canyon (worth it) and carefully plan the trip so you are staying somewhere you can go on a tour from etc..

Never mind big, smelly, noisy NYC, what about San Francisco? It's en route, far more interesting and easy to navigate than LA, and is bordered by some truly spectacular nature, from the world's largest trees to the majesty of the headlands. Then there's the small matter of that whole Trek connection...
Because... it's a sport... that his country doesn't have?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind taking in a game at Anfield if I get the chance to visit my UK relatives (my nephews over there are huge Liverpool FC fans).
He said he has limited time. If someone from another country has 2 days NYC I think they would need a prior interest in baseball to spend half of one of those days going to a game when there is an entire city in front of them to be explored.

Maybe, but there are few things that are more American than baseball.
Maybe after I've eaten all the regional food, seen all the natural wonders, gone to all the museums, explored all the best cities, driven all the great drives, visited all the Trekbbs'ers I might go to a baseball game. OR maybe I'd just go go Canada instead

Well, as I suggested earlier, seeing Wrigley isn't just about seeing the sport. That being said, it's better to see a sport your country doesn't have than one it does.
I think this brings back my caution about imagining the US is smaller than it is. It's a ten hour trip from MSU to NYC. That means you're practically wasting a day to get there and a day to leave. I don't think it's realistic to see much of New York in a day, so that means you need four days to really go. I'm not sure how far away the Grand Canyon is from Michigan, but I'm not sure it's realistic to go to both there and New York if you have either non-tourist obligations or a limit to financial resources. Especially since NYC is so expensive.
As for DC since it was mentioned, you can probably do it in an overnight trip. You can see the moments and museums for free and don't need to see everything, so it's not too bad, but it is a long trip.

Please bear in mind when deciding how to weigh Gaith's opinion of anything that he doesn't like Transformers. Not just Bayformers, mind you, but ANY of them, including G1.
DC is easily my favorite city to visit. As Alidar Jarok said, free monuments and museums, and I'll add the cleanest nicest public transportation system I've encountered, and some darned good eatin' places, too. The reason I didn't mention it isn't because I don't recommend it, by any means, but because I figured it would be too far afield from where you were going to be.
I think a lot of us east coast residents are wishing you were going to a university out here because we don't know much in the Great Lakes and can't really give useful suggestions. Aside from Chicago, which is a no-brainer.

Nothing wrong with an interest in pizza. I'd like to do a US pizza tour myself.
