Here are some links to Youtube videos I've been working on with Pinnacle studio:

I just wanted to thank "Thomas" at Thomas models, for the fantastic Engineering model that he built, and many other CGI artists that created many of the pictures that I had found on the net.
I didn't create any of these images, I just animated them, added the sound effects and music.

Interesting. Was this for fun, or are they part of some long term project?

YES!! I LOVE his work! I'm working right now on animating the bridge. That is really FANTASTIC CGI work, Donny! :)

    Thanks, M.

Just for fun, Double-Oh! Just a distraction between the cradle and the grave. :)

So often, the names of the people who put in countless hours to perfect models like these aren't appreciated enough.

I think that putting the names of the people who did all that hard work at the beginning or end of the videos would be a nice acknowledgement.

Those artists might also like to know that there are videos posted where people can appreciate their work.

I just kick myself for not saving the site address of some of the people who did the corridor and sickbay work, it is totally unbelievable!

Shouldn't this be in the Fan Art forum?

You may want to add some type of credits on the YouTube pages for people that come across it that aren't from this board.

Please do. Its understandable if you didn't know who had done the work before, but now you do. It's an easy fix though, and you'll be golden. :)

Actually, all you did was credit some generic "CGI Artists" whose work you used. In this very thread it was made plain that some (if not all) of the CGI images you have used were created by Donny in the Fan Art forum.

    Here's what you posted there.

More importantly, your "credit" to these "CGI Artists" appears only on one of the four videos. You'd probably avoid a lot of criticism from people if you applied a specific credit, along the lines of "CGI images created by user Donny at TrekBBS" or something like that, and posted it with each of the videos.

It'd probably even be better if you could mention that you are doing this with his permission to use the images he created. Not that he "owns" the images from Star Trek, just that it's common artistic courtesy. Given that you clearly are not trying to take credit for yourself for their work, and given that the information has been provided to you to credit the artists properly, one would hope you would do so.

Proper credit is actually required in the Fan Art forum, where this thread would normally be.

As one of the oldest and largest Trek boards around, we've had plenty of both - that may explain some of the sensitivity about such issues.

Actually, I put that "disclaimer" on all four of my videos, along with the tags.

And, it's amazing, I posted those 4 videos, with nothing said from "Youtube" in any way, shape or manner, and yet this morning, I uploaded two "Haunted Mansion" vids that I had actually videotaped myself, and I added stereo sound and effects, and I got a copyright warning on BOTH!

Guess it just isn't the type of thing to share with anyone. Perhaps I should just remove them all.

Yes, Copyright issues should be taken very seriously - regarding whatever material you post online, if it's not solely made by yourself. That includes pictures, music, videos - all kinds of multi-media outings.

Well, that pretty much covers EVERYTHING! Just about every video that I scanned on Youtube since that time had copyright material, images, music, talking, etc. And I cannot believe that Youtube had to tag every one of those vids, and send out warnings to the posters. It just boggles the mind.

Also, I just wanted to say that I have removed those videos from Youtube, I have sent a PM to Donny and thanked him for the great work, and advised him of same, and I will NOT be posting any work other than my own, which I presume will also get a lot of complaints from people who want to harass me off of this site, just because I don't give Gene Roddenberry, or someone like that, proper credit for everything I attempt to do!
Not like anyone on the art thread has given credit to the original artists who created the sets, or props, or costumes, or anything like that. Why am I singled out?

    Makes ya wonder, huh?

And, I think that it's really strange when someone will take another person's photo, and put their own "copyright" on it. Like taking a picture while you are on vacation, in Paris, for example, and you take a photo of the Eiffel tower, and then put YOUR copyright on it, like YOU built the blasted thing!

A ton of Disney people are always taking photos at DL or WDW, and then put their own copyright, or watermark over it, as if it's their own personal property! I'm sure that if they decided to try and start selling these pictures, printed up and framed, Disney attorneys would jump all over that situation, to be sure.

It's the same with ANYTHING Star Trek! It belongs to Paramount, and whichever Chinese corporation actually owns it today! :D You cannot claim any right to venue that actually belongs to the studios. Plain and simple.

There is a faq for the fan art forum. Might be worth checking out before future art threads.
