Audiences actually decide what show stays and what show gets cancelled. People tend to forget that.
Extremely hilarious are comments like “It's going to suck, but I'll go see it anyways.“ WTF dude, vote with your goddamn wallet.
Not always true. MASH went out on it's own terms. As did Friends and a few others.
Seinfeld is another one. Jerry Seinfeld called it quits despite the studio, his costars, and the audience wanting the show to continue. He was even
offered $5 million dollars an episode to continue the series, but he wanted to end it on his terms.
Jerry Seinfeld said:
I wanted to end the show on the same kind of peak we've been doing it on for years," Seinfeld said. "I wanted the end to be from a point of strength. I wanted the end to be graceful."
That's $120 million ($5 million x 24 episodes) he turned down to do another season.
Jeez, just think about all of his coworkers who lost their jobs because he couldn't be assed to film one more season. Think about all the tax money that could have went to improving our schools and hospitals. Think about all the starving children in Africa that he could have fed with that money. Jerry Seinfeld sacrificed thousands of lives and the well-being of Americans to preserve the purity of a stupid TV show. All of us here have suffered at the hands of Jerry Seinfeld. He is truly history's greatest monster.
