    Yeah, not much of a surprise. Disney knows how to make money: by keeping its ancillary products within its own empire.

    ^^^ The amount of entertainment properties/interests/networks that Disney owns is down right scary staggering IMO.

    How would we cast Disney Star Wars?

    Goofy = Luke Skywalker
    Donald = Han Solo
    Leia = Daisy (Sorry, it's not becuase they're both ducks, it's becuase Daisy is hotter than Minnie. Yeah, I said it, hotter. Deal with it.)
    Vader= Pete (Again, not because they're both... is Pete a dog or a goof?)
    Palpatine = Scrooge McDuck
    Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles (the rest of Red Squadron) = Chip 'n' Dale
    Hugie, Dewie and Louie = Jawas.
    Minnie = C3po
    Pluto = R2 d2
    Mickey = Obiwan Kenobi.

    I think one of the first things Marvel will do is flood the market with a slew of $3.99 Star Wars titles to coincide with Episode VII and then cancel most of them afterward. After twelve or so issues, the core title will be relaunched with a new #1 in 2016.

    Can't wait for Star Wars: X-Men Knights with Wolverine and his lightclaws.

    Could they steal free comics day to coincide with the new movie?

    Marvel after being given an advertising flush fund from Star wars puts out 12 free issue number one star wars comics which are handed out free at the theatre as you walk into opening day.

    It's what Marvel did With the first Tobey McGuire Spider-Man movie and Ultimate Spider-Man #1.

    It's how you get children addicted, which is how you survive another generation.

    Well that sucks. Dark Horse has put out some really great stuff and I'm sorry to see them go.

    It makes sense, but I can't help but think that the license was better off with Dark Horse. They publish, what, 5 SW books a month? I just can't see Marvel being as dedicated to the franchise as that.

    This.

    Marvel will pump out as many titles as the market can handle. I wouldn't be surprised to see more than five monthlies.

    Do the Marvel published Star Wars comics exist within their own numbered universe within the Marvel continuity, or are they completely separate?

    They are a part of the same tier-canon system that the DH books are a part of. Several elements of the Marvel books have turned up in later comics and novels (Shira Brie/Lumiya among others).

    I don't see Marvel doing five Star Wars monthlies at all. I think they'll do one monthly, and then various minis and graphic novels (all written by Bendis).

    I think they'll do multiple books a month, how it breaks out is anyone's guess. I'm sure that the goal will be to generate more profit than what they earned in licensing from Dark Horse.

    There may have been more profit in keeping the license at Dark Horse--I think they had more of an incentive to publish as many Star Wars books as they could in order to retain the license (not that it did them any good in the end). I'm sure that Marvel will flood the market with Star Wars books in 2015 and then scale it back sharply afterward. Star Wars at Marvel may ultimately be handled like Star Trek at IDW currently, IMO (one monthly and periodic minis).

    How about one weekly book?

    Half sized, in black and white for a dollar?

    You really want to put this thing in children's hands, one word for you "News Stands".
