I've been away from the game for a few weeks, logging in occasionally to do some dailies and contribute to some fleet projects. I didn't realize how out of date my warp core is, and I noticed in our dilithium mine that one of the vendors is selling Elite MKXII fleet warp cores and RCS consoles. My question, for those that have these items, what are the best ones to get? I plan on getting one each of the Engineering alloy consoles, but I'm stuck on which warp core and RCS console to get. Any advice?

A lot depends on how much power your ship can generate and how you allocate power to various subsystems. For example, Engineers can generate much more power than
For myself, I tend to set my ship's base power to 100/20/20/60. That's 100% power to weapons, 60% to auxiliary and minimum power to shields and engines. Since most of my power is going to weapons and aux, the default warp core I use is:
Elite Fleet Hyper-Charged Warp Core Mk XII [SEP] [A->W] [ACap] [AMP] [SSS]
+7.5 additional Engine Power
+7.5 additional Auxiliary Power
+5 Maximum Engine Power
+5 Maximum Auxiliary Power
+17.5 Starship Engine Performance (Bonus Engine Power)
Adds 7.5% of your Auxiliary power to your Weapon power as bonus power
+3.3% All Damage for each sub-system with 75 or more power
+0.2 Slipstream Speed bonus
The key attributes are [A->W], which adds 7.5% of my auxiliary power to weapons, and [AMP] which improves the damage of all weapons on my ship by a whopping 13.2% when all four sub-systems have 75 power or more.

I just got to level 50 but I still don't really understand what's going on

Really enjoying it
I do find the missions to be a bit samey
1. enter system and fight ships
2. beam down and shoot a bunch of guys
3. beam up and fight some more ships
4. win
but still it's cool, i am really trying to educate myself on ship builds etc, I want to start using antiproton weapons and the new featured event should help me get a lot of ap weapons for free.

Most of us have played STO for at least a year, if not more so feel free to fire questions at us.
The pre-50 game centers around Featured Episodes. However once you hit level 50, the game changes to focus on two things, queued events and reputation. Queued events such as Special Task Force (STF) are short 5-15 minute missions that gives you dilithium and marks when you complete them. You then contribute these to personal reputation projects to build up your reputation for various groups, which in turn unlocks good gear that you can buy to further enhance your ship and personnel.
Most of us have played STO for at least a year, if not more so feel free to fire questions at us.

You'll need fleet credits and dilithium to purchase them. You get fleet credits by contributing personnel, fleet marks, commodity items and dilithium to our fleet projects. I kept failing that mission, then I realised you can upgrade your bridge officers weapons and armour, so make sure you did that

Also you can always ask for a team up and pretty much everyone will help you.

What kind of gear to you have on your ship? May I recommend you upgrade your weapons, ship equipment and consoles to green from white.
While not usually necessary, it can give you enough of an edge to survive where you couldn't before.

LOL. Yeah, I know, but when I'm playing there's never anybody else online. The joys of working the night shift.

A simple method if survival is shield Distribution.
Do you keep your shiels balanced at all times?
And make sure you have weapons at full power. It might be tempting to run a balanced setup, but you only do decent damage at max weapon power.

My problem is I play so infrequently, I sometimes forget how to do that stuff. I DO keep the shields balanced when in battle.
I don't know, I'll fiddle around with the ship specs etc when i get home from work. I have 2 days off starting in an hour, so maybe, if I still can't beat it, somebody from the Fleet can come in and kick ass for me.

Anybody playing right now want to help me beat those damn Naussicans in War is Good for Business? Still can't beat the buggers, and I'm getting fed up to the point where I'm about to go into STO hibernation for another year.
