Your stunning rebuttal to the points Kay makes aside, you are really missing out then. For once it's actually NOT "tl,dr" and quite worth reading.

It's funny, STID actually gave her something to, you know - that thing dissenters say NUTrek doesn't allow you do - think about. I'd say her thought processors are fully functional.

While I can't speak for others, I have never claimed that NuTrek doesn't ALLOW us to think. I've said it doesn't it LIKE IT when we think, because then nothing makes sense.

Shocker – I won't be buying the DVD which makes this the first Star Trek movie EVER that I won't own.

Here's my take on the DVD: The 800 Pound Gorilla

^You do know that TNG used a similar "subspace transporter" for exactly one episode ("Bloodlines") and then completely forgot about it?

And that transwarp beaming was written out of Trek (in this timeline at least) in this film anyway - confiscated from Scotty by Section 31 whose R+D facility in London was then destroyed.

I disagree with your blog.

The transwarp transporter makes starships no more obsolete than the transporter makes shuttles obsolete.

And that prevents Scotty from using it on the Enterprise transporters how exactly? Or any transporter he uses, because it was just a formula he had to type in.

Because S31 confiscated it then made its use by anyone else illegal?

It's a formula he has been working on already, Spock only gave him the final hints he would have found out anyways in the future. He surely would remember it.

Again, how would that stop Scotty from using it on the Enterprise when he needs to. A) anyways, B) after they got rid of Admiral Marcus and it became clear that Section 31 was illegal itself.

I'm not trying to pick on you, neoworx...

Aren't all transporters, "trick transporters"? Working and broken whenever the story requires them to be. Isn't that part of the reason behind the Prime Directive? To keep our heroes from just being able to disappear whenever a situation becomes too dangerous for them to handle?

Transporters are miracle workers in the Prime timeline as well. Need kids restored to their adult selves? Pull out the transporter trace. Need to save your doctor from a rampant aging disease? Grab some DNA and rebuild her body from scratch using the transporter.

    A) Scott is law abiding. B) I do not see what use it would have been after [Khan] got rid of Marcus...

Old Spock with surely could, but Scotty would probably have to refer to countless old notes and files in order to reconstruct it - all of which I'm sure were confiscated.

I'm assuming there's a little more to it than left, right, left, right, B, A, START.
