Star Trek Into Darkness - SPOILERS!!!

Your infamously spoiler-free moderator finally got a chance to see the movie today.

I want to thank you all for keeping your mouths shut and keyboards still to the extent that you have, especially regarding the last act. Seeing the Spock scene and the STII homage without any warning was just marvelous. I got kind of choked up watching them, and I doubt they would have hit me so strongly if I'd heard about them beforehand. (STII+III are my favorite Trek movies.)

Be aware that I shall still terrorize you, and my Hounds of Spoiler Hell will stay vigilant, until the movie comes out on disc. I know there are other fans out there who will appreciate you letting them discover the surprises for themselves.

Keep making me proud!

^^ Well, if I had to find out something early, I'm glad it was Khan rather than Spock, which was a much better surprise, or the STII echo, which was a real heart-tugger as I realized what was going on (Spock, you'd better hurry!), and beautifully acted as well. Khan wasn't exactly an idea out of left field.

I do regret finding out about Pike beforehand. That happened on tumblr of all places - unexpected because the only bloggers I follow are into Kpop, lol.

All things considered, I think I came out pretty well. :) So we're good.

*attempting to maintain her terrifying demeanor*

But don't make me come over there. No naked spoilers outside of this thread! Warnings! Apocalypse! Dogs and cats living together! Etc.

I really, really enjoyed Star Trek: Into Darkness. I have only seen it twice, but hope to see it more while still in theater. While I enjoy TOS, it isn't my absolute favorite of the all the different series. I also understand this is a new continuum, etc. However, the new timeline, and this movie in particular, really made me fall in love with the characters more. TOS was one the first I ever watched when I was a punky teen, but I guess I lumped it with kitsch that I liked, such as Rocky Horror, and Svengoolie. Now, as an adult, I feel like I have found more of a connection with these characters.

I saw it in 3D in a pretty dark theatre, never had a single problem with the film being "too dark", everything was crystal clear and well enough lit. Weird.
I wear prescription glasses, and have never gone to a modern 3D film. I've gone to showings of really old 3D movies in the early 80's, and had trouble with getting the 3D glasses over my prescription glasses.

Since the advent of the "OldMan" Sunglasses that surroundly fit over prescription glasses, I'd imagine that 3D glasses must be similarly available for people who wear prescription glasses, however I've never inquired nor heard about current 3D accommodations for vision-impaired people.

How good is the 3D experiance for prescription glass wearing people nowadays?

surprised no one has posted this link yet... glorious closeups of all the ship models :)

What would have been really cool is if there were a model of the TOS Constitution class ship on that desk too. Then we could have speculated that the Connie does indeed exist in this new universe, but that the nuEnterprise is a different class, since it has yet to be canonically called the Constitution class.:p

Re: @ NotLKH It depends on the size of the RX rims/temple and nose pad pieces.

Mine are all thin wires so they and the 3D glasses both fit together very well, with the 3D over my RX.

I saw STiD in 3D IMAX and the glasses they gave me fit comfortably over my own. The last time i saw a 3D movie was Avatar and the 3D glasses were so uncomfortable.

The new Enterprise is Constitution-class, it's on a screengraphic before the torpedoes are beamed out of their tubes to the Vengeance. It's among the graphics here: http://www.inventinginteractive.com/2013/05/16/star-trek-into-darkness/

Nice find on that interview :)

Perhaps it's just me but I felt that John Harrison reminded me more of Malik from the Augment trilogy than Khan. His motivation-in terms of exterminating "lesser" species-fit Malik more than Khan.
Speaking of the Augment issue, I twigged straight away during the Q'onos surface scene that Harrison was an Augment, but the actual Khan reveal still floored me.* Actually was a pretty big disappointment that Bandersnatch Cumberland's character was Khaaaaan, once that had sunk in - thought and hoped that was all clueless rumour-mongering by the media. :scream:
