new star trek trailer

The way Cumberbatch delivers the line, "You were a pawn, Kirk," is sooooo Montalban. Especially the way he said Kirk's name. Actually, a lot of his lines evoke that same Montalban feeling to me. The cadence is there. That smug confidence that drips from every word said. Maybe he is --

[That's your cue, Legion. ;) ]

No reason to think Harrison's ship is from the future,. Actually, we don't know anything about the ship other than it is HUGE and more heavily armed than the Enterprise. And we don't know if it is too far advanced in technology or not. I don't think time travel needs to be any part of this. The fleet was pulped by Nero, so this huge ship was built to keep the Federation safe while the fleet is reassembled.

How many scifi movies set in the future can have things arrive from the future's future before the concept of future begins to break down?

Couldn't it just be some kind of prototype warship that he has stolen? I don't see them using the time travel thing here either...

The ship is very big, and there is space debris flying around.

I have no idea how any of that counts as evidence, but you're free to believe whatever you want.

You could be right and I could be wrong. But there are clues that indicate that Harrison is from the future.

Just because you draw a conclusion from something doesn't mean it's a "clue." There are no clues here that Harrison is from the future, because he's not, nor is that ship. There are simply things you're misinterpreting.

There is not an equal chance that we are each right or wrong - the movie has been made. The truth may not be generally known, but it isn't undetermined.

The ship is more likely to be from the current starfleet, If it was from this future, it'll have different design cues from what we currently see.

The ship we see is almost like either an excelsior or a Sovereign, depends if we do see how it looks, but I think I'm leaning towards the latter, since it does have the same silhouette minus the nacelles.

Speculation could be is that if, debris of either the Jellyfish, or the Narada left from the battle last movie were to contain things about the 24th century, then i think it makes sense that Starfleet could have retrieved some data on future ships and tried to emulate them.

Starfleet doesn't build warships. Yes you could be right. It could be a new class of starship built during their time period. But looking at Kirk And Spock and everyone else on the bridge of the Enterprise faces, doesn't means it's not.

Starfleet builds whatever the writers say they build.

I think this movie should be called "I believe in you Jim".

Star Trek I Believe In You Jim.

No colons or commas. :D

I'm continually amazed at how big this movie is. After years of extremely small-scale Trek, it's gobsmacking to see it set loose with big-budget scope.
