new star trek trailer

Is it just me or have they given away a litte too much with this trailer? We now know that the crashing ship is the Dreadnought, that the Enterprise will be saved from crashing, that Pike will die (Kirk's sad look at the end of the trailer when Pike's line "I believe in you, Jim" is being repeated), and we can safely assume that Admiral Marcus is a villain ... are there any surprises left?

We already knew or assumed all of that before this trailer.

I've posted your comment about the crashing ship in Trek Brasilis. Very good explanation. :techman:

That's because it's so similar to the Sovereign.

I don't think it looks anything like any Enterprise.

That nebula, however, looks just like the one that the Enterprise-E is flying around at the beginning of First Contact.

It's an awsome shot. But I'm wondering if there is some lateral distance between the two ships that's making the dreadnought look even larger relative to the Enterprise than it may really be.
Perhaps some three-dimensional thinking is in order? ;)

It has been described as twice as big as the Enterprise though, and it looks about right in that picture.

this assumption about Admiral Marcus is one of the villains remind me Star Trek VI, the conspiracy between Romulans, Klingons and Federation officials.

And I have a feeling that Harrison will be exposing the existance of the Dreadnought ... symbol of a secret military buildup within Starfleet. Which reminds me of Thomas Riker exposing the Obsidian Order building secret warships in the Orias System, whithout the knowledge of Central Command.

Wow... Just... Wow... I HATE using the word "epic" when it comes to movies, but that was the first word that came to mind after my first viewing... Holy crap, I can't wait for this!!!

Is it bad of me to be cheering for the bad guy? Wait, it's Cumberbatch and his fucking awesome is this, so it's only natural. Kirk is getting the humility and maturity rammed up the ass in this movie.

That ship that Harrison on is on, has to be from the same time period that Spock and Nero is from. She must came through the wormhole after Spock and Nero had went through?

Why?
That ship is to powerful to be from Kirk time period and any new ships should be base of the Enterprise design. And there's the debris floating around the orbit of the moon. They have to be wreckage from others starships that was destroyed by Harrison ship before the Enterprise had arrive.

That could just as easily be the Enterprise's debris or the dreadnought's (we did see a ship partly blow up at warp and that would explain why Kirk could space jump to the dreadnought).

I would completely agree with you, but I don't think that they will be pulling the black-hole-time-travel stunt again for this movie. But it would make sense!

Sweet muscular Jesus. I had to watch this three times. Chills. I didn't even care anymore if Bendersnatch is Khan or not. If it were possible to get an erection from a non-porn movie preview, this would have the power to do it.

Huge stakes involved in Kirk's growth. This is gonna be sweet and I have no doubt it will blow the first nuTrek movie away.

Yeh, I was using the wormhole example. But there other ways that they could go back in time.

This trailer, more than the others, had me thinking that I was discovering Trek for the first time in 1984, a kid of 12. I actually teared up a little watching it, too.

Star Trek is back!
