No indication whatsoever to both, and I would be very surprised if either happened. Very!

    Edit: Bah! Beaten again. :)

Editing in the Wolf 359 battle would only undermine the scene when the Enterprise finds the remains of the fleet. Cropping to 16:9 would just look awful, I've seen it done to TOS for TV broadcast.

Given what these sets are retailing for, it would hardly be free.

Hopefully the rest of the special features, besides the commentary, will end up on the season four set.

I do think it's a shame the commentary can't be included. Paramount had no problem editing Nick Meyer's commentary recorded for the extended version of TWOK to fit the theatrical version, for example. Unless the re-edited version of the episode constitutes a major departure from the original two-parter, they could do the same here. (Of course, it's possible the new edit is quite a bit different; it's also possible the commentary directly addresses the new edit, and wouldn't be applicable to the new version.)

Happy to hear they're not producing a 16:9 version, though. The season one features illustrated why that would look awful pretty well.

Most definitely. Then people would go "ah, it fills my screen, I can breathe now" and start demanding the rest of the series be done that way. :p

Thanks - they have Looper for a good price on Blu so I'm giving them a trial order there, if they do OK they get my TNG order. Amazon will come down, they always do, but I think they are currently taking the piss, it isn't 2001 any more!

I hope that price comes down to at least 70 when all is said and done.

    1) No, the only thing is that it will be a feature length edition of the episode, nothing from another series will be edited into it.

    2) No, it will be the original viewing aspect ratio. Not sure why everyone is obsessed about widescreen...

If I were to take a stab, it's almost certainly the footage from the 'Star Trek: Borg" interactive movie game that came out in 1996.

Which would be cool to see in HD instead of craptastic AVI files. It was certainly a pleasant evening spent playing it back in the day, even if it's something you can only do once.

How would a VHS Game have worked anyway?

Something like, ok now, you have two options.
If you like the borg to attack now, fast forward 3 minutes and 40 seconds from now.
If you don't want them to attack, fast forward 7 minutes and 10 seconds. ?? :wtf:

In the TNG Klingon board game you play while the tape runs and you get interrupted at random times with new instruction. Usually it results in the active player missing turns or losing things you have to collect. Here's some people playing the game if you're wondering how it works.

I have a question regarding amazon pre-orders and the person I just talked with on Amazon support was no help.

For those who have preordered TNG from Amazon.com, when you pre-order the set, when do they actually charge you? The reason I'm asking is because I'm putting in the preorder and want to use a gift card. I expect the price to go down though, meaning I can use the entire gift card and not have to pay the rest using my other card. Will they charge me now if I put in the preorder now, or will they charge me when the order is shipped? Basically, should I wait to pre-order now or wait until the price goes down and then order it?

    Thanks for any help.

Amazon never charges for pre-orders until the item is shipping, because their price may change before release day. If you order today, and the release-day price is $55, you'll get charged the $55 on the day.
