Season THREE OFFICIAL TNG Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

"The Best of Both Worlds" has disc-exclusive special features? That's disappointing. Has another studio so egregiously double-dipped?

It was bound to happen. How else would they get the trekkies to buy both sets?

That's not what the article at Trek Core says.

The special release will come with its very own exclusive set of Borg-themed special features, including a featurette, all new audio commentary and gag reel. These features are set to be exclusive to this disc, and because of the feature-length nature of the edit, the audio commentary won't be split over the Season 3 and 4 sets. We expect CBS to release a special trailer for the disc within the next month along with a fully detailed press release - so stay tuned for that all that information!

Just read the article.

GREAT that they gave S3 a much darker shade of green compared to the first cover version that was released. BOBW cover looks sweet too! :techman:

Excuse the minor derailment, but I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this:

Does anyone know when re-masters are to start showing up on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and the like?

Every article I found simply stated "sometime in the future." Nothing had a specific date. I thought maybe they would start showing up soon, but maybe not until the entire show is released?

I would really like to see them but can't justify the cost ATM.

The audio commentary couldn't be split over the sets so is definitely exclusive to this disc. As I said in the Jan 7 comment, I'd like to think the rest will appear in Season 4, there is a great desire to avoid "double dipping", but Season 4 is 6-7 months away, so plans are nowhere near solid enough to say. At the time of writing, they will be exclusive to the BOBW disc. That may or may not change down the line. Sorry I can't give you a yes or a no, but the guys are trying their best!

Eh, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Some people will buy it, some people won't.

It's not really a double-dip anyway, every single item on the disc is unavailable on any other Blu-ray. It's a legit solo release...even if some people wish they could get it for free by having it in the already awesome season 3 set. :)

Utterly horrific price at the minute, hopefully see it be a bit more competitive before I put my order in!

You think that's bad? They're still charging 80 bucks for Season 2 on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. My local Future Shop was trying to sell it for 95 dollars.

I'm trying to find Season 2 used for around 20 bucks. No way I'm paying even 40 for it. Season 3, I would happily pay 80 bucks for based on what I've seen so far in terms of quality.

Pardon me for asking, I'm just curious:

1) Has there been any indication or hint that the separate "Best of Both Worlds" feature length edit might contain Wolf359 battle VFX from DS9's "The Emissary" (or at least as an alternate Blu-ray viewing option)?

2) Has there been any indication or hint that the feature length edit might contain a 16:9 reformatted version of "Best of Both Worlds" (as an alternate Blu-ray viewing option)?

Bob

No to both, so far. I don't see the first one happening, and the second is an antithesis to everything we've been told about the Blu-ray project so far.
