Imzadi II by Peter David is about his rescue from the camps.

Oh really? I never read that one, the first Imzadi was so awful I never considered it.

That's what I was most concerned about actually, and tried to ease the transitions compared to others I'd seen.

I think Tom hooks up with Selar Yar some how?

    The first page is hilarious.

It's Jadzia dying in his arms he's cradling her, screaming and crying, purple klingon snot everywhere totally broken in grief massively and utterly... Then there's this stray throught in the back of his head: "I was a freaking moron to think that what I felt for Deanna Troi was love... So why the hell did I mary her?"

I think I got the audio book out of the library, it was read by JG Hiertziler quite well.

What I remember about the first one was that it was full of girlish purple prose and mary sueness and lots of angst. At one point Troi and Riker have to spend the night naked in a tree or something.. there is some convoluted reason why they are naked. I was always hearing this was the most wonderful Trek book ever. This was back in the days when Troi and her romances was the stuff of shipping wars. It was my first or second ever Trek book and I hadn't yet realized that Trek books write all relationships as though everyone was 15 years old and crying in the bathroom at lunch so I was shocked it was so bad.

I probably have Imzadi II somewhere, I used to buy Treklit in bulk lots on ebay and ended up with several copies of it.

Imzadi I is the best trek book ever because Data was on a snark hunt to whack Deanna Troi to save the timeline.

The first 300 pages was uneccessary girly fluff.

Although I regurgitated some of Dee's psychobabble to my then girlfriend "Your friend doesn't want you to create solutions for their problems, they're not an idiot, they want you listen and sympathisize."

4 months later, she's repeating the same tripe I said to her, forgetting that I was this garbages origin, but she was claiming that it was something she read in a scientific journal or a psychology textbook.

I really let her have it. :)

And then you noticed her orgasmic expression while eating chocolate ice cream and your nightmare was complete?

I didn't notice she was attractive till First Contact.

Didn't want to bang her till Stargate.

Sexy, sexy Russian accent... And maybe it was also that she wasn't being written as a moron any more?

Yes FC and VOY Troi was a revelation. If she had looked and acted like that the whole time I might have some Troi crush but instead I had to nurse my Ro Laren crush along for the whole TNG era because there was no one else.

Stargate Troi's accent was painful, but I think everything Russian on that show was filtered through some cold war comic book idea of Russia and it was all painful. However the character was kind of interesting despite the nuclear wessels.

I find every thing about Trio (and Sirtis) painful.

But then she's just no Janeway, eh teacake? ;)

They were born on the same year according the Star Trek Exhibit Experience I visited once.

It's possible that they were or could have been switched at birth.

I seem to remember early TNG publicity claiming Marina was in her late 20's at the time. Those liars.

She's a month older than my mum, and would have been 31 or 32 when TNG started filming... But then actresses lie. So add another 6 years.

Josan you didn't like Troi in FC?

Was it Troi and Janeway that were born in the same year or Sirtis and Mulgrew?

The characters, and the actresses. A month apart.

It's probably harder for celebrities to fudge their age now, what with the internet and on-line government public records.

I'd have to rewatch FC to answer that. But I didn't like here at all during the series.

I pretty much didn't like any of them.. though that didn't stop me from enjoying episodes. Picard ascended to a pleasant mehness and that was about it for the regulars.

Oh, they're the most boring cast of all the shows in my view (but Crusher and Trio are the worst). TNG is at the bottom of my list. Hell, I might even rank TAS above TNG.
