PICTURE POST!

Not open for further replies.
In 12 years here, I don't believe I've ever posted a 'recent' pic of myself. However, in the last year I have lost 15% of my body weight, and had some cosmetic work done on my teeth. So I got my uncle to take a few pics of me this afternoon in the garden, and here goes.

I look a bit weary, but that's because I'm currently adjusting to some odd meds which are supposed to be sedative, so I'm more tired than usual.

Please be gentle with me!

You look great and congratulations on the weight loss!

You look really nice, Kathy...don't be self-conscious about anything! And tsq's other pieces of artwork...wow. Just amazing. I'm just blown away. It's like Tim Burton time traveled back to the twenties or thirties.

Super cool, Gary.
The dragonfly is my favorite of the three. I like the expression on the spider...as if it's saying "Who the hell are you...and you're not going to smash me with that thing you're holding, are you?"
Thanks, eddie. :) I have a whole series of the dragonfly, but so many of them didn't come out because I had difficulty mastering the focus without a tripod. Gorgeous creature. I'm continually amazed by the artistry of nature, especially in insects (so overlooked by most). The jump spider is one of my favorites, such a playful critter. My tagline for this one is "Bad Hair Day." ;)

Gary, your photography is absolutely stunning.
Thanks, tsq. :) And I really have to say, your artwork is tremendous, terrific in both style and composition. :bolian: I wish I had talent like that!

You have it backward. I have a habit of turning newts into people. Sexy green people who help around the house.
You have Yoda doing chores? I think that's gravely underutilizing his talents.

Thank you. It is part of a series I did with that theme a few months ago:
I've seen most of these. Love them all. Although I still like "Fashion in Roses" the best. It was even my muse for awhile. :)

Pic RevdKathy took on our recent visit to The Lost Garden's of Heligan.

I always loved that pic. Somehow it captures that really naughty look which makes me curious what you were thinking, and what you were planning to do with that ice cream.

Besides, you're not leaning :P (yes, I know you said it was my camera!)

I didn't say it was the camera. You wondered if it might be the camera, I wondered if it was too much leaning on my walking stick.

That look? You will never know what I was thinking. Mwhahaha. Or alternatively... I was holding a smile for too long and it looked fake so you made me laugh and caught the pic between the two. :p

RevdKathy, you look great!!
It's so nice to be able to put a face to the posts, after all this time :)

Btw, that's me - a bit dishevelled as it was taken at work:

I'll add my voice to those who have told you how nice that picture is RevdKathy! Congratulations on losing so much weight! As someone who can yo-yo when it comes to weight I have great admiration for people who achieve such success!

Gary7 , I never thought I would say this...but I actually love that picture of the spider! I can't believe I see "character" in something that usually creeps me out! I love dragonflies, so I'm really drawn to that photo as well.

It is nice to put faces to names...nice pics Bob and Rhurbarbodendron! (...it's nice to "see" someone I've been chatting with for awhile Rhubarb!) :)

ROTFLMAO!!!!
*giggles hysterically* Sorry, TD. Actually, I've pulled off that stunt before. Not really deliberately, though, but unconsciousely, rather. Guess it's because I have a typically male job. Or because I'm usually a rather strong woman (not lately though, since my landlady drives me nuts and I need all my energy *not* to kill her). Plus I've had to fight for myself (and for others) all my life and perhaps that shows more than I was aware of.
There are a few males that can confirm that I react all female under - ahem.. - certain circumstances :D ;)

Yeah well, I've been taken for a woman on-line (by males of this board even!) so I suppose it's just a thing that happens inside the mind of the beholder; in reality it doesn't matter what people are (nationality, age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity...) on the net, as long as you get along, right?!

You look lovely Rhubarbodendron, and very girlie! Yes, I think its nice to see what people look like (even Bob The Skutter! :p)

I remember one year we did an av theme where people used pics of themselves for their avs for a few weeks. That was funn!

that sounds like fun! :) I think I still have a pic of myself, age 5 or so, with my favourite toy: a rubber spider that would jump if you pressed a small airbag =)

It's funny how one changes over the years, isn't it? I used to be such a thin teenager and now I am quite overweight. But as a former BF of mine put it: there can never be enough of the person you love :D

It's an annual event: the first week of December is black & white avatar week -for those who's gotten tired of the x-massy red, white and green colours that by then have been around for anything up to two months :p
Here's one of mine -Me with (on!) an x-mas gift:

(not the actual avatar; a picture I've used to make an avatar.

You look lovely. :)

Yes, you do, RevdKathy. Congrats on the weight loss!

TSQ, your art is fascinating!

I'm just curious... why had this thread gone to 10000+ posts, when most seem to be shut down at 2000? It loads sooo slowly. (Of course, slowly is a relative term. We've gotten so spoiled by the internet.)

For board software reasons it used to be that no thread could be more than 1000 posts long. I think the number of posts deemed 'maximum' these days is in the neighbourhood of 8000.

Why this thread is larger is because it's the mods of Misc. that decide when to close.

And if it loads very slow it's most likely because there's some large (filesize!) images on the latest page -should load faster once we get started on a new page :)

ETA: this is a new page! -does it still go to slow for you?

^Slower than most pages, yes. Of course it doesn't help that I don't check this thread regularly, so I end up with several pages to go through at a time.
