The new interviews are great - exactly the sort of thing that should have been on the DVDs.

Not quite sure I understand the deleted scenes in the archives though.

If they have to search for all the correct footage, surely that implies there's the wrong footage in there too.

Otherwise they could just digitise the whole archive - after all they'd need it all done eventually!

I think what he's saying is that they didn't save all of the dailies, which is as expected because that would be a lot of footage when really they only need a small fraction of it, so they could save on storage and shipping costs. I think this project would be a LOT bigger if they had to scan through all the footage that was filmed for a given episode to find the right take. It seems like, in many cases, what they have are brief segments of footage already cut that they then just scan in and arrange. If you look at the documentaries so far, they show a lot of boxes with a few small reels of film. Also remember that the stuff they're missing is often just very short cuts (13 and 2 seconds long), which lends towards the theory that they only kept what they needed and don't just have all of a given day's film in a single reel.

I could very well be wrong, but that's just the impression/instinct that I have.

I found this part particularly interesting

And they've confirmed that they're committed to do all 7 seasons, so sales of any given season shouldn't affect the restoration of the others. He also stated that the purpose CBS Television, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount are paying for this is to future-proof the show, so I would call it safe to assume that the other series will most likely get the treatment as well, but again it depends on the sales of these sets.

Wow, is that really from the episode? I never noticed that either.

IIRC, that was the first and only time she wore the skant uniform.

Troi looked pretty good in it, but it just looks weird on Tasha.

I also noticed one of the security women wearing one in Code of Honor, which looked REALLY strange.

Just spotted another VFX error. In Heart of Glory during the breakout scene the security officer is killed by an invisible phaser beam.

[Trying not to become more and more disappointed with every new revelation]

I still couldn't be happier that TNGR has happened, but I can't help but wish a better release schedule was planned. (ie: one where all the screw-ups get fixed before they release it.) Yeah, I know we all wanted this "RIGHT NOW!!" but I'm sure we'd all be happier to wait longer for better results.

I really hope the errors become rarer as the seasons roll on. :(

I was initially disappointed by the sound errors on the set, but now that I have watched some episodes I'm really getting excited again. When done right, these remastered episodes are just thrilling and beautiful to watch.

I'm confident that CBS will fix the initial errors on this release and will make damn sure it wont happen on future releases.

    Love it :guffaw:

Shouldn't laugh, I know. People have paid a lot of good money for this dog's dinner of a release, and they deserve better.

In addition to the previous audio issues, there's a noticable echo/issue which starts halfway through an episode on my setup.

It's in episode 11 ("Haven") and starts in the scene where Riker, Troi and her fiancee are on the holodeck (27-28 or so minutes in to the episode). I'm watching this on a stereo system. The issue is there on the 7.1 track. Can someone confirm?

I haven't made it this far yet, I'm still on disc 2. Does anyone know if this is present in the original release? Does the sound effect still occur?

The search for the extra footage from "The Measure of Man" suggests that there's at least some additional footage in the archives -- or, at least, that they hope there is.

EDIT: I guess the interview addresses this; the extra footage is only on VHS, and the film is lost. A shame. :(

If they are going to be recalling some disks, perhaps they can replace the energy beam shot with the original element...and any other recovered footage that didn't make it into the release on the affected disks. Might as well do it right.

If there will be a Complete Series set, hopefully they will correct everything on those discs.

On the Bluray, the sound effect is still there, so is the white blast of the phaser hitting him, but the phaser beam itself is missing. Five screenshots here: http://imgur.com/a/tjr4t
