Well, it would hardly be the first time that a work of fiction has portrayed the near to midrange future as almost identical to the present -- especially a low-budget production like Power Rangers that can't afford to populate an entire world with futuristic cars, fashions, props, etc. You can find plenty of episodes of shows like The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits, or plenty of old B-movies, that are nominally set in the 1980s or 1990s but depict cars and phones and fashions and such that are straight out of the 1950s or '60s. '80s and '90s shows like Max Headroom and RoboCop: The Series were set some distance in the future (the latter was explicitly some distance into the 21st century according to a screen graphic at one point), but they're dated by their use of then-modern tech like big clunky cell phones and computers. More recently, ABC's Defying Gravity was allegedly set in 2052 but its producers made exactly zero effort to make its Earthbound scenes look any different from 2009. For that matter, Power Rangers SPD was explicitly set 20 years in the future, yet as I recall it looked pretty much like the present aside from the occasional alien hanging around.

Billy (Blue MMPR Ranger) and Jen (Pink Time Force Ranger)'s last names. They are officially recognized as being Cranston and Scott, respectively, but they were never said in-show and were provided instead by officially recognized auxillary materials.

There are also other things that are recognized as being official parts of PR lore but were established out-of-show, but those are the two examples I could think of.

The pregnancy never happened on screen, most fans assume it was after Zeo when Rita and Zedd suddenly vanished and gave up their plans to conquer earth after destroying the royal family os the machine empire.

Whoever said that Thrax would've been concieved by regular means anyway? Would YOU like to push those horns through YOUR vagina?!

We was probably conjured up by various magical means during one of the earlier times Rita and Zed crossed their magical staves, if you know what I mean. FUnctionally an offspring, just not quite biological.

^So it's official, they're not skipping Gosei after all...I did sample the sentai when it came out, but never stuck with it. The first few eps were...boring. Didn't particularly care for the Gosei's angel guardian theme...
And the name ''Megaforce'' would've suited a future adaption of Go Busters better, but I guess there was no other alternative here (to downplay the angels angle).

Gokaiger won't be adapted. The claim was it is too hardcore for kids

Well this sucks for people that wanted this season adapted

Frankly I couldn't get my head around the idea of pirate Power Rangers anyway. Pirates are the bad guys!

Forgive me but,I'm a little confused, since I just recently started watching Samurai...they're ending it this season and starting Megaforce next season?

Bah. Kids loved Pirates of the Carribean and its despicable hero, Captain Jack.

Yes...that's the standard set forth by the sentai series. A different version each year, with different casts and story setups. Goseiger followed Samurai Sentai Shinkenger in Japan, then came Kaizuko Sentai GoKaiger last year, and this season its Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.

Since next year is the Power Ranger's anniversary season, many were hoping that Saban would skip Goseiger and go straight to Gokaiger. But that excuse sounds pretty lame about dodging the pirate theme out of fear it wouldn't appeal to both boys and girls. The 5 Gokaigers weren't from Earth anyways, and were only outlaws in the Zangyack Empire.

Channel 5 is to be airing PR Samurai. Hopefully, they'll do a better job than ITV, given it's tendency to skip episodes and their cropping and zooming of shows to widescreen.

Just read about Megaforce today. Kind of a dumb name, but it's just a name.

Some more interesting info from that article (bolding mine):

So that means no angel stuff.

And about season 2 beaing "crazy", I wonder if that means that's when the "Legend War" footage that Toei shot for Saban will be used (assuming they really aren't adapting Gokaiger at all).

ETA: High quality Megaforce poster image, with title logo.

    Those are pretty nice costumes.

And I'm glad they're not going to be slavishly adapting the Sentai storyline this time, although I'm not sure what they replace it with will be any good.

Goseiger would be hard to directly adapt as the Rangers are actually 'angels' in training...and take orders from a being called Master Head.

It would have been creative though. Megaforce looks a little too generic.

Sounds like a fun new twist on Power Rangers.
