There's a quote from Moffat that says the Eleventh Doctor hates his current look. He's trying to distance himself from Amy and Rory by changing clothes.

The only way that makes sense in my mind is if he gets them killed somehow and his response is to have a sort of mental pseudo-regeneration in order to help him move on from it. We've seen him spend plenty of time apart from them without any sort of personality crisis so it would need to be something big.

I guess I was wrong about twitter or a press release...I didn't factor in set pic leaks. Of course I would think that the Beeb will get around to officially announcing the name eventually.

My sister said she heard the companion's full name is Clara Stone, Stone was one of William Nicholas Courtney's middle names. So, if true, named for two of the sadly departed companions...

First time wearing glasses, yes. But he did give Rory a pair fo glasses (the Doctor claimed were his own) in The Girl Who Waited.

"Sunglasses" might be a bit inaccurate sinnce he wore them when it was dark and their purpose was to detect a cold-blooded Silurian. But they are a pair of glasses all the same.
