Pictures leaked!!!

I love how Spock still looks utterly dorky, or "Vulky' as was used as an insult in VOY's Real Life (and in the book Mosaic). Thank goodness he doesn't touseled hair.

Has the following pic of Alice Eve in costume (but behind the scenes) with Zachary Quinto been discussed here yet? Her outfit may be of significance:

I've lost track of what's been discussed where, but the color picture is on the Trekmovie site:

It's a Starfleet uniform, that's for sure. Note the blue swatches on Quinto's shoulders. There's also a patch on the left arm. No signs of rank, though.

Stargate Atlantis called, they want their uniforms back.

That photo contains Jewel Staite. [Forrest Gump] And that's all I've got to say about that. [/Forrest Gump]

Star Trek: Voyager called, they want their HoloDoc back!
Mal Reynolds called, he wants his Engineer back

I'd hoped we'd go the Lost In Space route, but I can play this ...

Barney Miller called, he wants his detective back!
:D
Oh, I get it now. I was racking my brain wondering who in that picture of Atlantis cast you were relating to Barney Miller. Then it dawned on me you switched over to Firefly due to Jewel Staite in my post :alienblush:

Temis The Vorta called, she wants her Joe Flannigan back

Close, but I was picking up from Mal Reynolds as a reference to Firefly. So Trek 2013 to SG: Atlantis through the uniforms, then SG: Atlantis to ST: Voyager through Robert Picardo, then you did Mal Reynolds and I picked up on Firefly to Barney Miller through Ron Glass.

Space Therapist called. He wants his thread back.

:guffaw:

Alright, then. I'm done. Thanks for the giggles, gang!

Remember that the first issue of the ongoing IDW monthly ST comic revealed, in a possible easter egg for the next movie, that Dr Elizabeth Dehner had a past romantic link with Dr McCoy.

Hmmmm. If Dehner's in the film(unconfirmed, of course) then there might be a very good chance that Gary Mitchell is as well since Trekkers tend to associate one with the other. The new comics aren't considered canon(what TREK comics are) but if there are any subtle hints and clues being dropped in them then it would indeed be cool if an alternate timeline Dehner would make an appearance in the new film. Who knows? She could play the Marla McGivers role this time around. The first Dehner fell for the godlike Gary Mitchell and was tempted with incredible powers...the second one could fall for the genetic superman and be tempted with being the consort of someone with incredible powers.

No, they already killed off Gary in the new comic.

The new comics aren't considered canon(what TREK comics are)

But the intention of the writers is that the events of this comic series is what happens between the two films. Not essential reading, but consistent.

if there are any subtle hints and clues being dropped in them

The writers confirmed this, but we have no way of knowing which factoids are easter eggs for the next film. Yet.

the second one could fall for the genetic superman and be tempted with being the consort of someone with incredible powers.

Exactly!

Thanks for the reminder about Gary, Therin. I don't follow the new comics like I probably should. I had completely forgotten the writers had killed him off.

We hardly required Dehner for that, though, did we?

Plenty of people had insisted from early on that Gary Mitchell HAD TO BE in the first movie because of his close association with Kirk, to the extent that they were unable to accept as valid any scenario in which Mitchell did not prominently figure and were grandstandingly miffed at his utter failure to appear in that movie.

True enough. A Trekker certainly doesn't absolutely need Elizabeth to pine for or even get good old Gary(or vice versa), but like you said a whole lot of fans had sort of been hoping that Mitchell would have made at least a cameo appearance in the last film...so when there's any chance that the Sally Kellerman character might be revived for the new movie then that just made some folks(myself included) more hopeful that there might have been a Gary revival of some sort to go along with it.

But like Therin said, Gary was killed off in the current comic series so that looks like a complete non-starter. Still, if Dehner's in the film it'll be a marvelous little tip of the hat to the second TOS pilot after all these many years. Even TOS never mentioned Elizabeth Dehner again after she came and went. I guess this means a reference to Kaferian apples is next on the list? :D
