137th Gebirg, WTF????? Why do you attempt to spoil the entire story for a character, when it wasn't asked for?

Don't be a douche - delete it. People can google that shit if they want.

I "might" have asked for it, but that wasn't my intent. Apologies for the limitations of the internet. ;)

I think a simple 'Jon is important' would have sufficed, on the reason why he can't be cut :)

Chill dude. That's why I put it in spoiler code.

The first 10(?) minutes in Winterfell were intense. Great stuff. And the botched execution is realistic - Before the guillotine, it was not unusual that it would take several attempts to sever someone's head. Especially with a sword - Most executioners would prefer a heavy axe.

Er, no, other way round - it was quicker and usually neater with a sword. Executioners with an axe tended to fuck it up a la Jack Ketch...

Hellloooo Osha. Though I'm not totally clear why she needed to do that.
It doesn't seem to accomplish anything narrative wise. It just seems to be there to misdirect the viewers (not that I'll complain one single bit, mind you).

I was kidding when I said he should be cut. I'm sure his story is going to be interesting in the future, it's just that at this point of the season I kind of wish they gave him the Dany treatment from earlier in the season. Basically we see Jon for like a scene and that's it because other than the scenery, I honestly don't care about that storyline at the moment, despite what the books probably say.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

I loved seeing Joffrey get hit in the face with cow shit. Too bad some of it didn't land in his vile little mouth. Him and Theon are both little shits I want to see die horribly.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

I would much rather watch Joffrey die horribly and slowly. He is sadistic and quite possibly nuts.

Theon just strikes me as a snake in the grass. He is more oily and stupid than cruel and capable. Does not mean that I would not like for him to get a taste of his own traitor's medicine.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

The attempt on Sansa's life during the riot was toned up from the book, which I wasn't expecting, particularly since they toned down the stripping scene. It's a little creepy thinking of them filming that with a 15-year-old girl.

I think it's a natural consequence of compacting the cast list... And it gave the Hound a good scene!

It's still a douche move to spoil
two books worth of stuff - Without warning how much. But you wouldn't understand, since you apparently like to spoil yourself. But hey, would you like me to tell you what is going to happen in the two books after that? Why not, while you are at it. Maybe I should have just written it out here already....

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Yup, the season is hitting it's stride now. I'm really looking forward to the Ygritte and Jon Snow sub plot. It was my favorite sub plot in the books. Arya and Tywin has been pretty awesome as well, I wasn't expecting the interplay between the two of them to be one of the bright spots of the season.

Of course I kid about the Jon Snow story and Ygritt is actually kind of hot, but where exactly is that thing going. Gee they're in the frozen north, hunting wildlings, that's exciting. Right now it really is taking away from everything else, and when everything else is like 10 times better, that's really saying something about this season.
Without getting too into the weeds, the Jon Snow story goes to some pretty epic levels of awesomeness. Trust me, it's going someplace :p

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Things are rolling along nicely now! Yet the deviations from the book are increasing - I wonder whether Baelish recognises Arya, and if so where that'll go. Also, WTF is up with the dragons getting nicked? I presume that's the House of the Undying that they were being taken to, to give Dany more of a motive to go there...

(and who's this Lady Tulisa that Robb's hanging out with? Didn't she just have a sex tape come out while judging The X Factor?)

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Presumably, they decided to use her in place of Jeyne, as she never made a ton of sense to me personally, and felt like she came out of nowhere. By having her involved, and Robb falling for her this way, you at least get some of how he's pulled towards love instead of the Freys...

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

...and it's "tits on a boar, for the record. :D

Isn't it usually "tits on a bull"? I mean, you milk cows, but not so much pigs, so tits on a female pig aren't that useful to us either.

That would make sense. I'd been waiting to see who'd playing her.

And it's an infantile move to flame - and a bad idea to do here as well. Jeez-o-flip! You'd have thought I'd shot your fucking dog. Grow up and get over it already!

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

Yeah, why did you have to shoot my dog! ;)

Perhaps I overreacted, but not everyone has the same small spoiler = big spoiler mentality.

Awful change if true. She "came out of nowhere" because Robb isn't a PoV character. The story with Jeyne isn't about love anyways, it is about honor. A notable trait of the Starks and ripe for taking advantage of by an interested party (say, a Bannerman of the Lannisters) via forcing him into a situation where he would have to do the honorable thing or the smart thing.

I'm beginning to think even the people making this show aren't paying attention to the subtext of those books.

Re: Game of Thrones 2.6 - "The Old Gods and the New" - Rate and discus

^ GRRM *is* one of the people making the show!

It'd still work for putting Robb in the awkward position.
