2012 NFL Offseason

Damn it, the AFC East just got a little more talent:

The Bills’ offer to Williams will apparently include more than $91.5 million in total money, more than the $40.5 million in the first three years that the Bears gave Peppers, and more than the $42 million guaranteed that the Bears gave Peppers.

NFL Network's @JasonLaCanfora @michaelombardi both say Mario Williams will sign w/ the #Bills tonight. #NFL

Yeah, word from the Tribune is that the Bears were in hard on Williams, but once the deal went north of the Peppers deal, Emery decided to back off, realizing that he still needs to re-sign Forte and shore up the offensive line and secondary, to say nothing of actually fitting Marshall under the cap.

That being said, holy fuck, the Bears have a legitimate #1 receiver for the first time since I don't know fucking who. Marty Booker?

If there are any Chargers fans on this board, if you have any information with regards to the CB Steve Gregory, please feel free to enlighten me. :) He's been signed by the Pats to supposedly tie some loose ends in their defensive backfield (which sucks might I add), and I'm pretty sure Gregory isn't the answer to that...

I saw a few Redskins games last year, and the thing with Grossman is he's wildly inconsistent. Gave the Patriots a lot of issues in their game against them, that's all I can say.

As for more quarterback news, Matt Flynn has signed with the Seahawks (3years $26 million / $10 million guaranteed).

That seems like a reasonable deal for a QB (Flynn) who had 1 really good game.

Hopefully he'll do better than Cassel.

As far as Grossman, I remember just how inconsistent he can be, I'm a Chicago fan.

Of course we had decades of inconsistent QB's, he was just one of the more recent ones.

Look at it this way: Flynn's a bargain using Kevin Kolb as a benchmark AND Flynn has one more really good game than Kolb's ever had. Seahawks = winning.

Not surprised the Skins re-signed one of their QBs while RG3 learns the pro game. I didn't think they were going to throw RG3 out there right away--that doesn't seem to be Shanahan's style.

Flynn lives! His upside looks to be much higher than Tarvaris Jackson, and the Seahawks have good luck with Green Bay's backups. I'm excited to see him on the field in a few months.

Tavaris Jackson sucks. Flynn will not have to do much to be an improvement over him.

The 49ers better get Manning now. They could be looking at having no QB at all next season!

Hey, I wonder what Jim Drunkenmiller is up to these days?

ESPN is reporting Manning is going to Denver.

If Alex Smith signs with Miami....

Exactly. Where we thought Miami was going to be left out in the cold, looks as if it may be SF now. Unless they can throw more $$ at Smith to stay.

The Niners could always try to get Tim Tebow.

I think his schedule just cleared up significantly...

It will be interesting to see if SF has burned the bridge with Smith or not.

From the Denver Post

Arguably the most prized free-agent in NFL history, Manning has agreed to play for the Broncos. Manning ranks third all-time among NFL quarterbacks in touchdown passes, completions and passing yardage even though he missed all of last season because of a neck injury that has required four surgeries.

And the Tebow nightmare is over.

Hopefully the 49ers can bring back Smith but there are other options out there. Jason Campbell is out there. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in if we can't get Smith back. Hopefully we can let Bygones be Bygones and Smith does come back. I do expect a ton of moves now that Manning finally made his decision.

The 49ers also are not going after Tebow so we can put that "joke" to rest.
