DS9 = WORST Star Trek Series EVER

Yes indeed I said major not every new alien is major. To define Major, an alien species with significantly more advanced tech or that can actually put up a fight against then federation.

So maybe 3.

Anyway not really a real comparison when weighed against Deep Space Nine's major new aliens.

TOS= old boring and sexist...(Kirk is too arrogant and is not good looking at all)

NOT GOOD LOOKING!?!?!

I remember when I finally got my hands on TOS videos after not watching it since my teens. Many years had passed.. many hot men had flickered across my viewing experience. I wondered if I would laugh at my teenage Kirk infatuation.

I was just.. so taken aback.. at how absolutely hot that man is in TOS. He is SO very hot.. :alienblush:

So, you are wrong.

TNG= limited action, exploration, new species, mostly inside Ent-D(Romulans/Borg amazing) (Riker sexiest guy in the Galaxy <3 reason enough to watch LOL)

Riker is an ape. A boor. A jerk. A blight upon TNG. My least favorite Trek character ever. And certainly not sexy, no I would NEVER want to have sex with Riker. No.

So, you are wrong.

DS9= first 2 seasons=crap lowest ratings ever and boring. after season 3 all out action pew pew blowing ships...cool battles.(the all out war idea was original for trek)

You forgot about the politics, the religion (also new for Trek, taking it seriously). The development of Ferenginar, Trill, Bajor and Cardassia into fully fleshed out races and worlds. The expansion of Klingon house history. Actual romance and marriages. And other great stuff.

VOY= TNG exploration + DS9 action ,it mixed both along a very special domain the Delta Quadrant.(Borg/Species 8472 <3,Hirogen,Krenim) amazing new aliens new worlds as well as best CGI ever XD

I would have thought the best CGI was ENT but what do I know, I don't even notice that rocks are made of cardboard half the time.
ENT= i would put it in its own shell...it was too different for us new Gen Trekkie. was decent... even Brannon Braga said it himself he wanted it to be Successful like Voy but failed....

Too different for "us new Gen Trekkie"? Didn't find it much different at all. First two seasons were pretty much the same ploddingness of some of the duller TNG eps. Got different in 3rd season but still, it was a long war arc like DS9 already gave us. Looked slicker, but otherwise it was still very much the same old Trek.

For something new and different we'll have to wait and see what comes out of reboot land I think.

how dare call Riker an Ape XD. i kinda like big tall aggressive men lol. but you have to admit he has the best eyes

Really Besides Species 8472 who did not get nearly enough play. There were really no major new aliens of note. Also overuse of the Borg.

um the Hirogen,Krenim,Malon,Vadwaar,Devor,Ocampa, kazon,Vidiians,Brunali,Norcadians,Numiri,Komar,...there is plenty more
I would say the Hirogen were significant, them and 8472. Voth coulda, shoulda, woulda,..................

if they kept using the same Aliens you people (VOY haters) would be the first omg they are in a new quadrant and they have only 2 species....or omg they kept overusing the Borg ...there is just no way to suit you.

the Kazon,Vidiians were primary in the first 2 seasons...
Species 8472in 4-5
the Hirogen in 4
Malon in 5
the Borg are the main enemy in season 3 until 7

people wanna criticize VOY for no reasons.

Hahaha, that's funny. There are plenty of reasons that people criticize Voyager. Speaking for myself, my biggest problems with the show are:

1) The premise: Having a crew of Starfleet and Maquis working together had the potential to be brilliant. They had the opportunity to create a lot of conflict between the two crews, but by the end of the first season almost all of the conflict had disappeared. It's unrealistic for the crew to act like one big happy family, considering how different they are. They had the opportunity to tell some terrific Maquis vs. Starfleet stories, but they blew it.

2) Janeway: Where to begin......she's quite possibly the dumbest person to ever captain a Starfleet vessel. She's a hypocrite, a terrible decision maker, and her curiosity almost got Voyager destroyed many times. Someone should throw her in the brig.

KAZON WERE NOT A THREAT.

as i said some had potential espicially species 8472 but it was never fully realized.

Well, first of all, arm phasers and lock on photon torpedoes, because i actually think it was the best.

DS9 was so awful it was the first & only Star Trek series that hired an actor from a previous series (Michael Dorn) to reprise their character role (Worf) as permanent cast member addition.

Well. TNG could hardly hire someone of the previous series, considering the 78 years between them. Voyager was stuck in the Delta Quadrant, and Enterprise - well, actually they almost made it in the crappiest season finale ever.

I was shocked that the writers felt that a Star Trek show didn’t need a real ship for exploration & wasn’t surprised that by season 3 they introduced the Defiant as a ship permanently assigned to Deep Space Nine (the runabout idea was a really seemed like someone’s idea of a bad joke since it really wasn’t designed for long range deep space exploration nor was it capable of real defense of the space station).

Actually I liked the fact that they did not travel from one end of the galaxy to the other. It introduced the notion of continuity, which is the best part of DS9 overall.

Now that DS9 is on Netflix I have tried to watch it again. I have gotten 12 episodes in & they are just awful. Even mediocre would be a huge improvement for DS9.
I will give Deep Space Nine credit that once the Defiant was introduced they did encounter more new alien races & explore more that The Next Generation.

Agreed. Season 1, forgettable (and mostly forgotten except "Emissary".) Season 2, damn good beginning and good ending, I don't remember much of the rest. Season 3... Mmmmehhh.

But starting from Season 4, it's worth watching again and again. Like Enterprise's Season 4 except the shitty finale.

OK, so I am arriving to this thread really late but I thought DS9 was the best of the Trek incarnations. Absolutely.

I have spoken!

I forgot about that criticism, surely one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

I like DS9 the best, but other series were great, too. I mean there were something good in every series, like, the episodes about Species 8472 and the Borg.

I wish everyone would let this thread die, it gives a really bad impression of the show if new viewers come on the forum and see this as the top thread lol.

DS9 was very much a Soap Opera for Trekkies. I don't mean that negatively, only that it was an acquired taste, only picked up after repeated viewings.

Most Star Trek is pretty accessible. Even if you'd never watched the show, it was pretty clear what was going on in most episodes. DS9, on the other hand, preferred long conversations about galactic politics or bajorian religion, or banal personal conversations at Quarks Bar. Mostly stuff which made no sense to non-regular viewers.

I think Trek fans are a little elitist about DS9. They recognize it's the only serious Star Trek which was explicitly made for Trekkies, and there's a "you don't get it" attitude towards its critics. They tend to overlook the problematic aspects of the show (which were ultimately pretty similar to those of VOY and ENT).

IMO, the DS9 writers did a lot of interesting things and eventually ended-up with a great show. But from a broader perpective it was "Too Much Star Trek" and crowded out the other programming and watered-down the brand.
