At the Prophet's Door - new DRGIII TNG novel?

That would have been awesome.

This is one of the reasons I love Titan so much, because that's *exactly* the purpose of the series, out exploring the unknown.

Minor side note while on this tangent (and certainly not a nitpick): why not have Titan explore the Gamma Quadrant, which is a largely untapped but "known" piece of the Trek mythos, instead of starting out exploring the Orion Arm?

Actually, according to the Titan bible, the Luna class was initially conceived to spearhead exploration of the Gamma Quadrant, but the Dominion War put that on hold. It doesn't specify where Titan would be assigned, so I guess it was my decision to send it to the Gum Nebula. I don't think it really occurred to me to consider the Gamma Quadrant, or if it did, maybe I avoided that because at the time, DS9 novels were still years behind the rest and so the other books tried to avoid spoiling them.

Also, I like to work real astronomy into my books, and I thought it would be interesting to establish the vast region inside the Gum Nebula as the series' main setting -- although subsequent authors didn't follow up on that suggestion. After all, I needed to build Orion's Hounds around a star-formation region, and there's a big one inside the Gum Nebula.

Oh, and saying the ship is "exploring the Orion Arm" is drastically nonspecific, since virtually all Trek stories set in the Alpha or Beta Quadrants have taken place inside the central portions of the Orion Arm. If the Orion Arm were a banana, the entirety of explored space would be smaller than the brand-name sticker. I'm not sure how that description of the ship's mission became a meme.

Considering Orion's Hounds is one of my favorite Trek books full-stop, I'm glad you went with that decision. :techman:

I remember being so bored with TNG's final season, I wondered if some episodes could be retconned into having been set in the Gamma Quadrant.
 
Judging by the quality of those covers, the end of Vanguard may have just one benefit - the expertise and budget going into these covers!

That quote is from the Trivial Matters section, not the Make it so section, as you originally said, so that's probably the root for JD's confusion.

And IIRC it's O.K. to quote (small) parts of outside articles, as long as you're naming the source and/or link to it.

It made me think it was a shipyard, plus I think it will turn out to be a shipyard as in the worlds of DS9 - Bajor, Asarem mentions a proposal to the Federation to establish a shipyard in the Bajoran System.
 
So who are we seeing in this story. Hopefully Sisko, its just wrong to do stories about the wormhole,ds9 and Bajor without him especially when u stick Prophet on the cover.

Well, technically, "Prophet" is not on the cover. At the Prophet's Door was the place-holder title, the actual title of this novel is Typhon Pact: Plagues of Night.

Okay I drop that complaint then but still cannot say I have been a fan of Sisko's treatment of late and really when it comes to shadow duels he and Bashir are pretty much the only significant star trek characters in this area.
 
If they have Sisko on more covers, a recent pic would be appreciated. The Sisko and Spock pictures on the cover of "Rough Beasts of Empire" gave me the impression the majority of the story would be told in flashbacks.

I really enjoyed RBoE, and am eagerly awaiting what happens next!

If you read RBoE closely, there's a small part where it's said that Sisko shaved his gottea of and grew his hair again.
