OMG! You are a deer!?!?

I knew I wasn't crazy.

I would strongly suggest to anyone, if they are even close to Charlottesville VA, take the time to tour Monticello. That place was amazing.

Here's a little fun fact we learned there. We've toured Washington's Mt. Vernon on a previous trip. Pretty big place. Even though it doesn't look it, Monticello has more square footage. Jefferson was quite the architect.

I'm 37.. .. I still look young enough ..... I still get mistaken by quite a few people for being in college.... I've been carded more than a few times....

And then *poof* - you woke up. :)

Hey now, I'm a believer. I was still getting carded pretty consistantly through my early 40's. As the count down to 45 is winding down, not so much. Must have something to do with raising a teenage daughter.

The amazing thing is that they met and then married a week later (arranged marriage)!

How interesting. Were both in favour of the marriage their parents had arranged before they met each other?

They both wanted to get married in general, and this was just the way it was done. Or rather my mom knew that she had to get married because that's simply what everyone did.

They met with their families and had the opportunity to talk privately. I know my dad asked her if there was someone else she wanted to marry, like if she secretly had a boyfriend that she didn't want her parents to know about.

She didn't, and they must have both liked each other because they decided to get married! When my dad returned to the United States, my mom went with and began life in a new country. :)

Thank you for sharing that, Kestra.

I usually don't connote happy marriage with arranged marriage, but I only have my very western perspective on this; for which it is certainly rather true.
It's nice to see it work out so well for others. And, well, to see happiness in a marriage in general.

I just want to know where the areas GEM has lived, because if her assessment of the local definition of "not beautiful" is true... The phrase "the hunting grounds are fertile" comes to mind.
