RIP Nicol Williamson

To me, I'll always remember him as Merlin from Excalibur. He is the only person I think of when I think of Merlin, he was that good in the role.

Apparently he didn't want a big deal made out of his death. He'd been out of the acting picture for about 15 years. Read he was a very violatile personality as well. Then again, a lot of good actors are.

I remember him too as Little John in Robin and Marion.

His performance in The Seven-Percent Solution was, in my mind, one of the best portrayals of Sherlock Holmes. Okay, tied with Jeremy Brett's, but still...

Our library, back in the '70's, had a record album of Nicol Williamson reading "The Hobbit". I would kill to own that my self, now.
