Wonder Woman(NBC) *Spoilers!*

cobiesmulders-ww4.jpg

I hate that all I can think is "Nooooo, not Papyrus!"

So really?

Question pending?

Why didn't he cast Erica in the failed Pilot?

or,

Why didn't he cast Padlicki in Harry's law?

He obviously (logically?) wanted just one of these actresses for the same part in both shows, but one of them was unavailable or unobtainable during the commission of one of these projects?

So, which lady is second choice?

From what little I've seen of the pilot it strikes me that the actress chosen wasn't the problem. It was pretty much everything else in it.

Yeah the "Pilot" had many problems...I liked Adrianne Palicki and I think Durance would be awesome...but the script has to be right...and from what we have all heard...it wasn't for the "Pilot" of that series.

I agree. Except for a few who have said they felt Adrienne was too skinny or not busty enough (especially given the side-by-side comparison of her and Durance wearing the same costume), most of the kind words I have read about the pilot usually do include her. I think she would have done fine had the series been sold; it was the other elements of the series that people would have had problems with. If they ever make that JLA movie, and assuming Kelley's version of the character was not used, I wouldn't complain if she were cast as Diana again.

The biggest problem with the pilot --and this holds true after the first viewing when I saw it in May -- and just recently when I (for some reason) re-watched it -- is simply that the story makes literally no sense at all.

Apart from maybe TWO neat visuals toward the end of the thing, its one of the worst pilots I've ever seen.

Durance was still on Smallville when the pilot was made and Palicki was working on two movies Red Dawn and the G.I. Joe sequel.

So it was impossible for one of them to be cast in both roles.

That's just the world being difficult.

David must have a favourite.

It's like with Savvik, we eventually found out that the producers hated Robin Curtis, and had always wanted Kim Katrall even before they had to settle for Kirsty Ally.

Well that was so not worth the wait. Durance played her role well, and it was kind of interesting to see the idea of comic book-style vigilante justice explored, but it was such a quick, open and shut case that I don't know why they bothered.

Not to mention that the very heavy, serious issue of domestic abuse just made the whole Wonder Woman thing seem utterly ridiculous. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Robert Picardo having to deliver that dialogue with a straight face.

But it's important that she's set up as a potential love interest in the future for Adam that he'll end up in a Batman costume while banging her... Oh dear. Although I see Adam more as a Kyle Rayner than The Bat.

It's spelled "Carter".

I was talking about the image of Erica Durance in the exact same costume from that episode of Harry's Law the other folks are talking about here. It's been posted side by side with Adrienne's in a bunch of places.

I would never be so cruel as to put anyone in a position of being directly visually compared with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman. ;)
