Would you swap your present life for life on the Enterprise?

I was thinking 1701, but left it open for your choice. Ent-D is good, too, but not my first, childhood love.

I am pretty happy most days, and I have a family, so I don't know if I would make the swap, now. But it would be cool.

Agreed on both counts.

I supposed it would be great...if I could wished for another life...but the reality is: the life we got is the life we got. You know how many times I wished for that and it never came true? Sorry!

I've had the same wish beaten out of me, but who the hell cares about reality? We're just talking fun here anyhow.

Live in the Star Trek universe? Everyone is so dull and lifeless in those shows. Do you see what people do in their off-hours? They sit and stare at a freaking wall. I think there's something in those replicators meant to control people and make them docile.

I've seen characters falling in and out of love. I've seen them taking care of children and pets and arguing with their spouses/friends. I've seen them playing various styles of music, taking art lessons, performing Shakespeare, reading, growing plants, socializing/drinking in Quark's or Ten Forward or wherever, watching movies, dancing, and riding horses (and doing all sorts of other stuff) in the holodecks. And so on.

Doesn't seem dull and lifeless to me. In fact, it doesn't seem all that different from the 20th/21st centuries.

Exactly! Being part of a Starfleet crew seems like a pretty surefire way to lead a life full of opportunities, that allows you to achieve your potential and have some fun in the process. And if you're on the Enterprise, it's all the better.

Even though I am the one who asked, reading these responses has me thinking about life and how I do or do not appreciate it. So thank you.

On a slighlty related note, if offered a seat on a rocket going into space today. Would you take it?

I would.

Yes.
Just so long as I wasn't a damn people-greeter ("Hi, welcome to Wal-Enterprise, do you need a cart?")

Would you swap your present life for life on the Enterprise?

In a heartbeat! Where does the line form?:techman:
