Will Star Trek 12 be good or bad?

Every incarnation of Trek has had its detractors within the overall fan base. From what I've observed, the set of Trek fans who indiscriminately like every Trek series is a minority. Most aren't fond of one or more of the shows, usually ENT or VOY.

I am probably close to being in that minority. I might personally favour certain series over others, but don't actually dislike (or denigrate) any.

Funny. One recurring theme of TOS was the joy of diversity and trying to understand and respect each other's differances. Seems like some Trekfans do their damnedest to ignore that in their treatment of each other. Not most, but those that do are numerous enough (and certainly loud enough) to greatly disillusion the remainder.

That is the main reason why I opted out of organized Trek fandom for over twenty years. Robust and honest discussion is fine; throwing insults and constantly bitching over what are really just differances in personal taste is not.

Well, also from what I've seen, loud minorities notwithstanding, most fans aren't actually disparaging of other fans' tastes. For example, even though I think ENT is the weakest of the series, that doesn't mean that I think only idiots like ENT. I also don't think fans who dislike TOS are idiots either, even though TOS is my favorite. But of course I'll get miffed if someone thinks I'm an idiot for my tastes. Who wouldn't?

JJ Abrams falls into that list of directors/producer that can do no wrong, he is basically the Christopher Nolan of science fiction at the moment. so I doubt star trek 12 will suck.

however I want a 3 hours film...Star Trek 11 was kind of short,I wish they hadnt cut out all those deleted scenes like spock's birth and nero's escape.

I like all the shows but I have to admit the first year is generally the hardest to get through. The ST show that had it's first worse year was TNG. While the second year was better, I really didn't like Dr. Pulaski, because she was way to gruff. I felt that they were modeling her after McCoy, a huge mistake.

Every series has had it's episodes that leave you wondering what the writer's were smoking.

^Although Pulaski was definitely modelled after McCoy, I MUCH preferred her to Beverlump.

I hope the next feature will do justice to the franchise and do even better than the last film, critically and finanicially. I want Star Trek to suceed now we have someone with a bold new vision for it. I feel the old regime was possibly in charge too long, so let's see what JJ does next.

I suppose XII could be neither...
