New 'BATTLESHIP' trailer

It does look a LOT like Transformers. I don't get why this has to be a Battleship "adaptation." Do they REALLY think people wouldn't go see a movie like this if it wasn't based on a friggin' board game?

Some bits of the trailer look kinda cool, though. Best case scenario, this is gonna have all the spectacular action of the TF films without any of the awful juvenile humor, racism, and sexism. But I'm not holding my breath...

If it has a booming voice from the heavens going "YOU SANK MY BATTLESHIP!!", I'll see it. :techman:

This looks ... generic, for a lack of a better word. It's like someone took scenes from a dozen alien invasion movies and copy-pasted them into this trailer.

Okay, the rubbery-lipped Stallone-lip guy at 1:13? Ugh.

I mean....

What the fuck? How is that supposed to be a serious moment or whatever to put in your trailer? That's probably one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

This is a damn odd franchise, but that trailer is nothing less than action movie cool...it smacks of Transformers. I can only hope it captures the appeal and entertainment factor of the first Transformers movie.

This amazes me...yes we've had 4-5 recent alien invasion movie/tv shows, but for the better part of my lifetime, we havent seen anything of this scale or with such effects. I would have loved to have seen more of it over the years. It amazes me how we take this for granted these days...generic indeed...

All trailers seem to have those bass string sounding effects now. I guess how much you like Transformers probably affects what you think of this, for myself I find I'm not a big fan of a lot of the new action flick style so many films have these days. I'm not even 100% sure any more if it's actually bad or if I'm just old and stuck in my ways.

All those people cringing about the Three Stooges adaptation will absolutely keel over in sheer horror over the Battleship adaptation.

One of the things I learned myself is that I like my science fiction done in a lighthearted escapist style. I like to be entertained so these types of movies are right up my ally. The trailer looked great. Looks like it will be a fun and enjoyable movie.

It might it be what my mood will call for when it comes out.

Though it makes me long for films like I, Robot, where its 70% shameless blockbuster, but there is still that 30% of decent thoughtful sci fi.

I Robot is a good example of a movie that was successful in achieving the balance between mindless fun and thoughtful sci fi.

This is like calling a Predator flick "Call of Duty" because it has soldiers with guns in it.
