Nah, Tim was already there and set up. He made his shot before everyone else pulled up in their cars, sirens blazing (but only after they were already there apparently since there was no warning before they all came out of the woodwork).
Unless we're supposed to believe he was hanging out the car window Dukes of Hazzard style, took aim, and made a perfect kill shot faster than the speed of the sirens and vehicles.
How did he even know Raylan was in immediate danger? Sure, there was a firefight and Doyle pointed a gun directly at him, but there's lots of firing and gun-pointing going on on Justified that doesn't result in anyone getting killed and Doyle was a police officer...
The day before he treatened Deputy Givens as he was interviewing Mags. And the State Police were also on the way to the rescue. Harlan County was seen as bad before Doyle aimed on Raylan.
Was there ever a doubt? I thought the ratings for this were pretty solid.
I really enjoy this show; I think Mama Bennett was one the best villains on TV in quite some time. I could do without Rayland's ex, though. I liked it better when they hated each other.

I've been watching but staying out of this thread because I'm just getting S1 on DVD and I'm not even sure when S2 DVDs are released.
Does S3 return in the winter? Maybe FX will have a catchup run of S2 reruns before then.

My DVR is picking up the S1 rerun on 11/24, but when's S2 running? The FX site is no help...
I can zap the ads, so that's not a problem. I'll keep checking - it would make sense for FX to do a marathon rerun before S3 starts up.
Ok, I spotted S2 reruns starting up on 12/15. At 2am, so it's definitely DVR fodder.

Okay I finally got thru S2, great season!
Anyone else get the impression that Mags might have planned to commit suicide before the events of the finale? In retrospect, the way she was setting everything in order seemed to be the actions of a person who is planning to end their life.
She talked about getting Doyle and his family to safety, but not about joining them and enjoying spending time with her grandkids. With a big pile of money, why not plan for that kind of retirement? All I can think of is, she isn't the kind of person who would be happy no longer running a criminal enterprise and having power. And all the way back in the scene where she murdered Loretta's father, her dialogue showed that death didn't scare her.
I just don't see the notion that only Dickie of her sons survived as the kind of thing that would precipitate suicide. Why not instead stay alive and make sure Doyle's family is secure? Doyle's death should give her a motive to live, not to die.
Going into S3 next week, I expect more direct confrontation between Raylan and Boyd. They've just been dancing around the edges of that storyline so far. Time to dig into it!
