justified anyone watching

here's a review of the finale; I mostly agree, although I was happy to see Mags die although I would've preferred it not at her own hands.

I thought it was a little unsastifying in that Dickie, the guy who killed Aunt Helen and shot Ava, was the only Bennett to survive "the war.

But then I wondered maybe if that was intentional to possibly set up something for the third season.

With the Bennett's hold on Harlan broken I would hate to see Dickie get out of this either by jury nulification or becoming supercon like Tea Bag

So who thinks next season is going to pick up nine months later? Baby is born and Raylan is living in Glenco and teaching. Boyd is running rough shot over Harlan and something big happens bringing Raylan back to town.

Finally got to see this last night. I think Mags' death was the right way to go. Despite her "love" for her boys, the one person she really, truly cared about was Loretta. Even when Coover died, she seemed more upset about Loretta being taken away. So, when it was clear that Loretta was lost to her and Doyle, her one "dependable" son, was dead, she had nothing to live for. I loved Mags, as a character, and hate to see her go, but her character was done.

The camera pulling away when she pulled out the glasses was a good move. I knew she was going to poison someone, but right up until the end, I was wondering who got the pre-poisoned jar.

The trick now will be how Boyd takes over Harlan and what the mining company will do to the place. Will Raylan quit the Marshall service? No, I don't see much danger of that; it would change the central premise of the show. Even if he left, it's pretty clear he'd come right back to it.

One thought that struck me: what if Winona's baby isn't Raylan's? What if it is the ex-husband's? Would Raylan even care?

Something Hubby said last night: "if this show runs any longer, the population of Harlan country is going to be a really small number."

Boy, reading posts in this thread is painful.

I have to agree with Sojourner.
I had to read one of the posts atleast 3 times to finally get what that person was trying to say.
However, it is a little easier for me becuase I once had to read papers in class from my friend for the teacher. The reason being, is that he is one of those people who can't write. He knew how to spell but his hands didn't do him any good.

I wonder how Dickie must be feeling; yeah he's a horrible person but so were Coover and Doyle and Mags loved them. But her reaction to the news that Dickie survived was killing herself...

Kind of what I was thinking. He's already off the hook for Aunt Helen. Given the "war" will anyone testify against him for shooting Ava?

So what do we have on him? Assaulting Raylon? Not to downplay it, but what would he get for that?

When Dickie started the war he mrdered one of his gun thugs to get another to fight. I would expect many people would be glad to trade their knowledge of Dickie's crimes now that the Sheriff and Mags are dead.

I find it particularly cold that, after he shot Ava, he jumped in his truck and left his men behind to die.
If any of them survived, I'm fairly certain they'd turn on him or get to him behind bars.

I guess it's a testament to Jeremy Davies' acting that I have COMPLETELY forgotten about the lovable scientist he played on LOST. Now I just want Dickie to die, or suffer for a long, long time. What a disgusting little toad he is!

I liked the Marshall cavalry coming in. When Doyle went down, my first thought was that it must've been one of Boyd's crew, but then I realized none of them were that good, so it had to be Tim.

Wait, I thought the guy who shot Doyle was the guy from Doyle's department who Boyd earlier talked to and gave money to with the idea being that this guy would be in place to be the sheriff afterwards? Didn't the shot come from behind? Did I miss something?

I don't quite understand how they got organized and set up so quickly. The Marshals basically had an ambush laid out, complete with a sniper in position. Yet Raylen was only there for a minute or two.

Still enjoy the show a great deal though. Even if Olyphant has a terrible reputation as someone to work with, he's certainly fun to watch.

It was a clean hole dead center in front and Sniper Tim Airborne Ranger Special Forces....had been established. There would have been a chunk of head missing not a simple hole if he was shot in back of his head.

I don't think they were set up beforehand. Remember the episode with the pregnant girl who was being held hostage after her jailbreak? Tim doesn't necessarily have to be lying in wait to be a crack shot. That's probably also backed up by the fact that the Marshals didn't move until well after the Bennet posse had opened fire on Raylan, at the last possible second before Doyle executed him. Though I think we'll have to credit how the lot of them could get right on top of them without anyone hearing their cars or them crashing through the woods to TV magic.
